Why did you choose to go to Kortrijk, Belgium?

Beacuse of the study programme they offered called SPACE: social pedagogical art and creativity expression.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

It lasts till the last day of your erasmus. I received around 360 euros per month + around 240 at the end. The rent fee is 300 euros so you need extra support or you have to work in Kortrijk, but it is quite impossible, as our schedule was really busy from monday to friday from morning till late afternoon.

What is the student lifestyle like in Kortrijk?

It is a little city, but there are many parties in the student residency and in some other clubs around the city.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Kortrijk to other students?

It depends. If you are looking for a calm relaxing semester then yes, but if you are a vivid person who likes to go out I would say it is better to choose a different city.

What is the food like?

Waffles and french fries! Otherwise food is quite expensive, I could hardly afford to eat out (a menu is around 10 euro, at the student canteen a meal is 4 euros).

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Kortrijk?

No, but I did not live in the student residence.

How much does it cost to live in Kortrijk?

Around 600 euros, but I couldn't spend more, I really almost only spent money on the basics.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

As far as I know english language courses are available.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Kortrijk from your city?

WizzAir to Charleroi + train (you can buy GoPass which is valid for 10 journeys and it only costs 51 euros).

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Kortrijk?

Den Trap.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Kortrijk?

No.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The main square, the bridge and the Buda Island, actually there is not much to see in Kortrijk

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Kortrijk in the future?

Other great belgian cities are close by and it is worth to visit them, like Brugges, Ghent, Antwerpen.
