Experience in Konstanz, Germany by Jo
How much does it cost to live in Konstanz?
Konstanz is rather expensive to live in, due to shortage of accomodation and the closeness to the border of Switzerland.
However, if one is lucky, he can find really nice places for reasonable prices, too. Prices for food, etc., are average, maybe a bit more for southern Germany.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Konstanz? Is there any advice you can give?
Rather difficult.
Good times are around Christmas, when the first students drop out of university.
What places would you recommend visiting in Konstanz?
In summer the lake of Constance is of course a must-go for all students, in autumn there's the Oktoberfest, which is great, but actually really expensive and in winter you should definitely stop by at the Christmas market.
Is it good to eat out in Konstanz? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
There are many great places to eat in Konstanz. From a pancake house to several locations that offer burgers (check out the Dom if you can) and a lot more.
Is the nightlife good in Konstanz? Where is good to go?
There are several Clubs in Konstanz as well as bars and pubs, so you won't have problems finding a place to drink/dance away the night.
What advice would you give future students heading to Konstanz?
If possible try to come in spring or summer.
The lakeside as well as the old town is lovely. In autumn and winter however you will have your problems in seeing them cause Konstanz will be hidden in a wall of fog most of the time.
