What is it like to live in Kiev? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

it's a modern megapolis,divided by the river into 2 parts. The right side of Dnipro river is the historical centre with famous Independence square, Podol, Golden Gate. The city is quite big, green and with a lot of nice places to have a sit and eat. Beer is extremely cheap if to compare to european prices.

What is the student lifestyle like in Kiev?

It depends what you like. There is one of the biggest art-spaces in Kyiv, the entrance is free- Pinchuk Art Centre, a lot of shopping malls - Ocean Plaza, Gulliver, Karavan, Dream town with cinemas, skating rings, roller fields etc. For parties you just need to go to one of the many beer houses or Shevchenko Park. A lot of places for Hipsters like Mozhavelnik, Doska Bar. And of course the city is full of night clubs, posh and extremely expensive bars and karaoke places like Just Cafe, Arena, Olmeca, Pushistiy etc.

How much does it cost to live in Kiev?

The average salary is 300-400 dollars, you need at least 500 to live, but people manage to survive ))

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kiev? Is there any advice you can give?

it's difficult, you have to see the place first, basically you don't sign a contract, because it does not work like that in Ukraine, everything depends on the confidence between people, the legal system is not so specific as in Europe. But the rent of the nice flat can be 200-400 dollars per month. It depends on the district, metro station near.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Soups, dumplings, shashlik, pancakes and unfortunately a lot of sushi restaurants - that's very typical ukrainian food.

What places would you recommend visiting in Kiev?

Best coffee in the morning - Espressoholic cafe, to eat - Oliva, to have a drink - one of the pubs near Lva Tolstogo metro station. A burger - arena place, The burger cafe. A restaurant - Nasha Karta restaurants, one of them.

Is it good to eat out in Kiev? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Kyiv (it's the right spelling of the city :)))) is one of the new gastronomic capital of eastern part of Europe. A lot of restaurants, all kinds of food - japanese, french, italian...
too many...it takes a week to get the main places...
and everything is quite expensive )))

Is the nightlife good in Kiev? Where is good to go?
