Expérience à Kiev, Ukraine par Victoria
What is it like to live in Kiev? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Kiev is a good place to live in. The contrast between historical heart and modern skyscrapers and offices gives the opportunity for every tourist to find what they want. The prices for food are quite low. Although the prices for renting an apartment can be considered high, in comparison with the European average they are still low. The infrastructure of Kiev needs improving because it is rather hard to find metro there. Nevertheless you may use public transport to reach your destination.
What is the student lifestyle like in Kiev?
Students as for me are quite the same in every country. It depends of course on a person, university and region but my acquaintances spend a lot of time studying and at the same time they try to enjoy their student’s years.
How much does it cost to live in Kiev?
It depends on how you want to live. But in average if you have 500-600 euros per month feel free to stay in Kiev.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kiev? Is there any advice you can give?
It is rather hard to find an apartment in Kiev, especially for foreigners. I don't know for sure whether there are some advice centres but Ukrainians are open-hearted people so it isn't difficult to find help.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Food is more than OK. Ukrainian borshch is famous all around the world. You may easily find places where to have a snack and the prices are mainly reasonable.
Is it good to eat out in Kiev? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Puzata hata is a restaurant with good Ukrainian food at reasonable prices. As a student I need a healthy, quick and cheap place to have a lunch and Puzata hata is just the right restaurant.
