Ukraine has the largest international student group in Europe, and international education in this country has come a long way. Ukraine is characterized by culture and history, with stunning architectural sites and ideal scenery for excursions. It is a great place to study abroad as you will live in Ukraine for several months, and in the meantime these are some tips for new students in Ukraine.

Advice to Students want to study in Ukraine

Things necessary for your study trip to Ukraine?
-Your invitation letter.
-Your international passport.
- Original or certified copies of your qualifications.
- Driving license (if avalible).
- Medical history or prescriptions necessary for continuous medication.
- Laptop

Non-essential things on your study trip?
Don't take anything you hate to lose. And leave behind:
- Precious or expensive jewelry.
- All unnecessary credit cards.
- Social card, library cards, and similar items you may routinely carry in your wallet.
- Leave a copy of your itinerary with family or friends in your country if they need to contact you in an emergency.

Buy airline tickets:
Each student has their own travel arrangements. You may want to get a travel agent to help you with your travel plans. There are many different options for buying tickets, and it is important that you choose the one that best suits your needs. Students are advised not to wait until the last minute to obtain all their travel documents.

Tips before departure:
- health insurance:
Students studying for classroom programs are required to obtain Ukrainian local health insurance (not valid outside Ukraine), in order to obtain a residence permit.

- Cash:
When changing money abroad it is always better to go to a bank. Although there are exchange offices, they charge a commission and their exchange rate is usually high. This rule also applies to hotels, airports, and train stations where rates are usually higher than in any bank. To avoid losing money from transaction fees, it's best to change a large amount of money in one go.

- Check before you leave:
Ask about the number of baggage allowances, their dimensions, weight limits, and fees for weight limit. Most importantly, do not wait until the night of travel to pack your luggage. Distribute essential items such as underwear and some clothes in all your bags, especially your backpack (in case your bag is lost).
Place your passport and identity card in a safe place, but it is easily accessible as you will have to present it at different points during your trip.

- Guide on Ukraine:
You may consider buying a guide about Ukraine from your local bookstore. During the orientation, you will get a comprehensive student guide that identifies shopping, dining, grocery shopping, and lots of great information that will be at your fingertips while you are in Ukraine. Don't forget to bring your new address and phone number at all times.

- Clothing:
In the warmer months between November and March (average temperatures from 17 to 45 degrees), students generally wear lightweight shirts, shorts and skirts. In the cooler months from June to August (average temperatures 5-20 degrees), people usually wear things like jeans and a waterproof jacket. Visit the weather page for more detailed information about weather in Ukraine.

- Safety Procedures:
In terms of safety, a little caution and common sense, and some basic intelligence on the streets will help you avoid any problems. Here are some tips to keep you safe:
Avoid empty streets, subway stations, and bus stations. Make sure you know where to go, and it's always best not to travel alone during the night.

Do not offer large amounts of cash in public places, and keep your property in a strong grip especially when you are at railway and bus stations, as it is often crowded and is a magnet for thieves.
