What is it like to live in Kaunas? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Kaunas is the city where I'm studying. I recommend this city because it has rich and unic architecture and landscape, there are lots of places to visit. There are a number of parks, historical places.

What is the student lifestyle like in Kaunas?

In Kaunas, there are many events. For the students, who are from other countries we organise trips and make a presentation about Lithuania.

How much does it cost to live in Kaunas?

To be honest, I haven't counted. But people who lived here, they said, that's enough about 500 euro per month to live here. Included living place, food, transport, and entertainment.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Kaunas? Is there any advice you can give?

Not really, their many places to rent. For example room, or all flat. Cost for one room good quality flat is about 500 litas (about 142 eu), and to rent a room is cheaper. But there are also dormitories for students in Lithuania. My advice is live here because you can make lots of friends there.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The main Lithuanian cuisine consists of potatoes, meat, vegetables. Also, there are lots of types of vegetables, meat and fruits. All these products you can find in a supermarket.

What places would you recommend visiting in Kaunas?

Kaunas castle is an architecture place near the river which is called Nemunas. Laisves aleja - longest Kaunas pedestrian street, Kaunas zoo, number of parks, museums.

Is it good to eat out in Kaunas? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it is. Also, it's quite cheap. Most of the places where you can eat are in Laisves Aleja. For those who like coffee, tea, milk drinks I recommend Vero Cafe. Eating place - Pas Stenley, or Can Can pizza, and many many others.

Is the nightlife good in Kaunas? Where is good to go?

The nightlife in Kaunas starts from Thursday night, then open lots of nightclubs, also there are cafes which works till late. The most popular nightclubs are Macao, Gargaras, Combo.

What advice would you give future students heading to Kaunas?

Don't be afraid of anything! Just a little advise to start to learn Lithuanian. It is difficult, but possible. Regards from Lithuania!
