Would you recommend the city and the University of Kaunas to other students?

I don’t know about the city, it’s quite silent for me, but the university is very good, especially the teachers.

What is the food like?

Very tasty, high quality.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Kaunas?

No, I had booked the dormitory in advance.

How much does it cost to live in Kaunas?

I have heard that it’s quite difficult to find apartments for a few months only, on average it’s 350-400 euro per month for two people. But it’s possible to find something cheaper, even for 150 euro.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

It’s not so hard and there’s a lot of possibilities to develop: everyday speaking at dorm and uni, free online courses (ESN students often announce different offers through Facebook), multilanguage program which gives you the opportunity to learn from native speaker students (something like languages exchange among students).

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Kaunas from your city?

I am from Kazakhstan, Almaty, so the easiest or most economical way is through Minsk.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Kaunas?

Old town, there are many nice coffees and pubs.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Kaunas?

Actually, no, because I don’t really like eating out. But there are some I liked, such as Chilly pizza.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Museums and Kaunas castle.
