Stammtisch Goes Greek 22.11.2012
So, what are you people doing on next Thursday the 22nd of November? Nothing? Then you should definitely pass by Rentukka, when the Greek Stammtisch takes place! Need more details? I’ll try my best..
Rentukka is a place at Kortepohja Student Village; the exact address is Taitoniekantie 9, 40740, Jyväskylä, held by the Student Union. This is Rentukka’s website for more information on how to book the place and the upcoming events: http://www.rentukka.fi/rentukka/index.php (Finnish and English). Inside Rentukka, there’s a bar that serves drinks and food (burgers as far as I know), a pool (that everyone can play for free, a flipper, many board games, backgammon and chess, comfortable sofas, chairs and tables to relax and enjoy your drink/food with your company and finally a dance floor to dance your ass off!
How to come to the Kortepohja area: take the bus number 18 , 18K or 25 from Vapaudenkatu at the Center of the city.
Now that you know what Rentukka is, I guess the next question is ‘what is Stammtisch?’ To begin with, Stammtisch is a German word that according to Wikipedia means “an informal group meeting held on a regular basis, and also the (usually large, often round) table around which the group meets. A Stammtisch is not a structured meeting, but rather a friendly get-together.” In our little time, Stammtisch is an event held every second week by the ESN JYY organization. Every time Stammtisch has different themes and for the next time Stammtisch goes Greek! There will be many activities related to Olympic Games, and the guests should be dressed as something related to Greece! There will be also free traditional drinks for the winners of the Games!
So what are you waiting for? Pick up your themed costume and come and join one of the most epic Stammtisch events in the history! This picture is the actual poster that one of the Greeks made for the event. Hope you like it!
Next week, I’ll write a review of the Greek Stammtisch and also include pictures! You don’t wanna lose this one! Until then, take care everyone! ;)
