What is it like to live in Jaen? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
close-knit community. if you like tranquility, you will be at the right place.
What is the student lifestyle like in Jaen?
Not much distraction as there is not much entertainment here. but cities like Malaga and Granada is just an hour or 2 drive away. easy for near getaway. as for me it's a good place to be as i'm a history student here. roman's ruins and a lot of historical monuments around.
How much does it cost to live in Jaen?
about 300 euros or a little more. depending which part of the city you're living in. places around the university is a lot more expensive. leaving slightly further away could cost like 100 euros cheaper but urban buses stop by the bus stops every 10 to 15 minutes. and if you get the urban public transport card, you can get up to 50% discount on the normal bus fare.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Jaen? Is there any advice you can give?
for me it is a little difficult as i'm a chinese from malaysia, and a lot of landlords have problems renting a place to chinese as i think they don't trust us. but i have friends from europe union who gotten accommodation easily..
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
i love basically most of the dishes here. but i love churros the most, especially during colder weather.
What places would you recommend visiting in Jaen?
the cathedral of Jaén is a definite site to visit. it is one of the earliest renaissance building with balcony. another place would the la castilla de santa catalina, breath-taking view and also la iglesia de la virgen de la cabeza in Andujar.
Is it good to eat out in Jaen? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
depending on occasions but there is a small cozy restaurant i love called el machito.
Is the nightlife good in Jaen? Where is good to go?
karma is one of the place where a lot of uni students would go.
What advice would you give future students heading to Jaen?
it's a good safe city to be in. most of the people here are very friendly and helpful. just make sure you speak spanish as everyone here practically speaks only in spanish.
