Why did you choose to go to Jaén, España?

Jaen seems to be one of the best places where you can spend your Erasmus time. It is not a touristy town, so you can meet local people, get to know their habitants, customs. And it is also easier to learn Spanish. It is small so you have an opportunity to meet other Erasmus people everywhere!

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I will spent one year here. My University gives me 400 EUR per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Jaén?

September and October are the craziest months for Erasmus people who come here for all year or only for the first semester. At the beginning there are many parties during the week. During weekends Erasmus people usually travel, because the location of this town is really perfect. It is close to Granada, Ubeda and Baeza, Malaga, Nerja, Cazorla.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Jaén to other students?

Definitely, Jaen is the best place for Erasmus time! The University is big, all people are really nice. But if you don't study English Philology, Tourism or something like that, you should be prepared that all your classes are in Spanish.

What is the food like?

The food is fatty. But in Jaen, when you go to drink a beer, tinto or any other alcohol, you will always get tapas for free.

No, it didn't.

How much does it cost to live in Jaén?

Even if you go to the party, 400 EUR is enough.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Spanish is really easy, especially for Polish people. There are extensive and intensive courses at the University. Some of them are for free, and you can get ECTS points for that.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Jaén from your city?

The most economical and exciting way is hitch-hiking, which I can really recommend! Many people use blablacar. Transport in all Spain is really expensive.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Jaén?

There are two clubs: Mambo and Kharma. It depends which type of music you like.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

The cathedral and the castle.
