What is it like to live in Jaen? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Jaen its a really nice experience. I stayed there for 5 months and it was like living in an adventure. The city architecture it's kind of "old style", but its really cool because you can do anything there! It's a peaceful place, with a lot of places to visit. Of course you can also go to a lot of parties and events, even if they're not only for Erasmus students. Also if you want to go somewhere else for the weekend, you can take the bus for a day trip!

What is the student lifestyle like in Jaen?

The students lifestyle in Jaen its really calm. But of course it depends on the way you want to spend your time there! Remember that you can do anything you want! The citizens are friendly and communicative, but keep in mind they only speak Spanish, which is a really good opportunity for you to learn the language!

How much does it cost to live in Jaen?

Well i have to be clear with this question. I am from Greece and everything here it's really expensive! When I went to study in Jaen, I saw low prices everywhere! But some other people from other countries said that it was a little bit expensive. To be honest, everything is cheap there, except rent (although you can always find good prices), electricity and house bills in general.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Jaen? Is there any advice you can give?

Not at all! Just use your computer and you will find a nice appartment to stay! In general, most students share an aparment with other people. That way it's cheaper. Personally, I did that way, because I went to Jaen with two friends from my home university in Greece. Try it! You can't imagine what you can learn!

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food! The gastronomy in Spain is indescribable. Tortilla, tapas, paella, pescaito frito and many more, such as churros, which is a dessert you can eat it with sugar, cocoa or as it is, followed by a cafe con leche (coffee with milk).

You also have to try jamon, which is the local ham. Remember that prices are really low!

What places would you recommend visiting in Jaen?

You have to go for a walk to the city castle named castillo de Santa Catalina If you like walking, I recommend doing it.

Also the cathedral of Jaen is an inspiring masterpiece of architecture! Also you can go to the Museum of Jaen! Of cource there are many places to visit, but these I think are the most important.

Is it good to eat out in Jaen? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

If you want you can eat out! You can find a lot of tapas bars and restaurants everywhere in the city. You can eat a tapas with a beer for only 1, 50 €. There are also restaurants with Spanish, Italian, American and Chinese food. There are also a lot of places that sell frozen yoghurt!

Is the nightlife good in Jaen? Where is good to go?

There are many clubs and bars in Jaen! Everywhere you go you will meet nice people, you will drink and, of course, you will have fun. The city is safe, so you don't have to worry about going home alone at night, because the city at night is really peaceful.

What advice would you give future students heading to Jaen?

The university architecture is really modern! You will really enjoy the library and the university canteen where you can relax and chat with your friends! There is even a bank in the campus!

Also the professors are really kind and helpful with everyone.

You can also travel a lot, because Sevilla, Cordoba, Cadiz and other cities of Spain are really close to Jaen and the tickets are not very expensive.

I hope I help the ones who wants to visit Jaen!
