Erasmus Experience in Jaen, Spain

Why did you choose to go to Jaen?

Because it was part of my study plan.

How much money did you receive for going abroad? And for how long?

The scholarship lasts 10 months and the quantity is just 230 euros per month. Of course the amount of money they give you can depend on the University but generally the start point is 230 euros.

How's the school environment?

Fantastic, Jaen is not a big city so it is much more like a family experience where there's a perfect coexistence between Spanish and Erasmus people. We all knew each other and thanks to that we could organize lots of nights out all together.

Do you recommend Jaen to another student?

Absolutely! Because the group atmosphere you can have there is very difficult to find anywhere else.

How's the food?

Amazing! Especially fish! Spanish use to cook it fantastically; but more important Jaen is famous for the Tapas that you can find everywhere! And where with a beer you receive also some food! this is the best solution for a dinner with friends because it's very economic.

How did you find home?

Thanks to an agency but you can also try with the several groups in Facebook or the proper sites.

How much is it to rent a room? And in general?

I should say that the cost of life it's piratically the same of the one in Italy; the single rooms generally cost between 140 and 200 euros all taxes included.

What about the language? Did you join some courses?

My advice to anyone whose reading is to spend a lot of time with Spanish people in order to learn as fast as possible the language.

How's the fastest way to reach Jaen from your city?

The best way of course is by flying. In Italy there are some flights from Milan or Rome to Granada and from there you will have to take a bus to Jaen; the bus trip lasts two hours and there's a bus leaving Granada's airport every hour.

Where do you suggest to go out at night in Jaen?

The places that i use to be where: ZarOne, Karma, SalyPimienta, Morocco, Trovador, Moet... In reality there's plenty of them; the most important thing is to live the experience all together!

What about eating? DId you have some favourite places?

Well, i can say that my favourite pub for drinking beer was the Gambrinuz in "la plaza Coca de la piñera"

There are some cultural buildings?

Very beautiful is the Santa Catalina's castle; as student tradition you have to see it before your Erasmus experience expires, the Arab baths, all the Andalusia region and for sure the splendid city of Granada and its treasure: the Alhambra.
