What is the student environment like in Jaén?

It’s nice as there is a campus in which everything focused that’s not broken up like in many other cities where the various faculties are located in different parts of the city.

Would you recommend the city and the university of Jaén to other students?

Yes, if are looking for a small and cheap city. The people are calm and helpful.

How is the country’s food?

You can eat well, and this being said by an Italian is important. There are tapas that are phenomenal.

Was it hard finding accommodation in Jaén?

Absolutely not. It is very easy for a student to find an apartment.

How much does it cost to live in Jaén?

It always depends from person to person. But I think €450/€500 is sufficient.

How’s it going with the language? Did you attend a university course?

In a year I learnt the language very well. I also took the DELE C1 diploma from the Cervantes Institution.

What is the cheapest way to get to Jaén from your city?

You have to book in advance and then hope for connections by trains and buses. Normally I go to Madrid or Seville and then arrive in Jaén by train, bus or BlaBlacar.

What places do you recommend going to at night in Jaén?

To go out there is not much variety. But the centre is nice even if it is small, it is perfect to go out for tapas with friends for a quiet evening.

And to eat in Jaén? Can you talk about your favourite places?

My favourite places were the tapas bars, Casa Galuchi, El Santuario, El Abuelo, Barranco. They are all very cheap.

And what cultural places are there to see?

The cathedral, the castle and the Arab baths.
