General things

Ireland is a legendary and mystical island. It exerts a mysterious attraction on many people, including me. That's why I decided to do my work experience abroad, in Cork.
My name is Anna-Sophie Diederich, I am 18 years old and would like to share my experiences with you.
As everyone knows, the weather in Ireland is very moody, which I experienced when I arrived. Nevertheless, I stole myself into a new adventure. Two months alone in a land of unlimited possibilities.
But first of all a few (fun) facts about Ireland and the city of Cork:
1. Cork, also called "Corcaigh" by the locals, is located in the province of Munster in the south of Ireland. It is the second largest city in Ireland after Dublin.
2. There are normal roads and there are Irish roads. In a land of magic, it's only natural that not everything is right. So there are also some roads where the cars roll up the mountain by themselves. Why is this? We'll probably never know.
3. One of the most popular Irish drinks is the famous Guiness. But did you know that the bubbles do not rise but sink? Some people here attribute this to the magic of fairies and goblins.
4. Ireland is known for its bright colors and green landscape. This is due to the many rain and changeable weather.
5. The center of the city is located on an island on the River Lee and has an important seaport.
6. The prevailing climate is the so-called maritime climate, in summer the maximum temperatures are around 18 degrees.
However, if you want to experience Ireland in all its splendor, you should pack your bags and set off. ;)
