Why did you choose to go to Irakleion, Greece?

Coming from the far north i wanted to experience life in the south and Greece was my nr.1 choice due to its history and weather.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My scholar ship was 4 months. Around 300 euros.

What is the student lifestyle like in Irakleion?

Student life is pretty good in Irakleion prices are low allot of good bar and the nightlife is fun.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Irakleion to other students?

The city is really nice for going out and drinking. But the culture of throwing trash everywhere kind of make Irakleion a really dirty city. Its horrible to live in paradise and fill it with trash.

I was at IMBB forth and its an okey place to be at. Not much going on social wise, you just have to get lucky with your lab.

What is the food like?

The food is not so bad. Not allot of variety, one Indian place no Thai food. Mostly its Greek food so if you like that you are set.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Irakleion?

Yes i payed for a premium account on erasmusu.com webpage to get access to the accommodation search. And found some not so good housing.

How much does it cost to live in Irakleion?

around 1000 euros a month or so.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Greek is like every other language if you work hard to get to know it, you will learn it. I did not take courses at the Uni.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Irakleion from your city?

For my it was flying. Best way for me was going from Copenhagen to Athens, then to Crete.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Irakleion?

That depends on what you like. For me Utopia bar was nice. Allot of beer from all over that place.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Irakleion?

Best restaurant is hands down Curry park Indian restaurant... given you like Indian food.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Heraklion Archaeological Museum and Knossos are good places to see and the Cultural museum is nice but a bit small.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Irakleion in the future?

Drink allot of Raki en explore Crete rather then staying in Irakleion. The Island is Amazing!
