The best semester of your life!

I went in the 2022-2023 Winter Semester. Studied at UHK.

IF THEY GIVE YOU A PLACE IN THE RESIDENCE, STAY IN THE RESIDENCE!! IT'S THE BEST PART OF THE WHOLE ERASMUS AND IT WILL BE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING EVER.

Don't come to Hradec Králové with the expectation that it will be some Prague / Budapest / Kraków because it is not. It is not big, it is not perfect. Nonetheless, it's now my second home and I love it to death!! 90 thousand habitants is very small but there's a lot to do! The shopping malls are modern, public transport (bus) works perfectly, and the city is not far from prague or other cities in Europe (You can travel to many other countries from Hradec by train).

Discover the city! Hradec has a football team but is more known for their ice hockey team, Mounfield HK. If you've never been to an ice hockey game in your life, you should go!! It was one of my favorite things to do during the semester, the vibe inside the stadium is super amazing, and it's literally 5 minutes walking from UHK.

The residence is a MUST. Once again, don't come expecting some modern futuristic dubai residence, some of the furnishing is pretty old and some need changing. NONETHELESS IT'S THE BEST PART OF ERASMUS!!! All the erasmus students are going to be placed in the dorm, so it's the best place to get to know other erasmus students. It's so cheap, you can change bedsheets for free, they have a pingpong room, a piano room, laundry room and a study room with a giant TV that you can use. It was perfect for the world cup!! The best thing about my erasmus was literally living in an apartment with all my best friends, the vibe you get is amazing.

There's a lot of cool activities you can do around the city, you can go play Laser Tag, Bowling, Escape Rooms, walk around in the parks or go have a picnic next to the lake, it has super beautiful and peaceful views. Food is cheap and good, and so is the beer!!

The city only has 2 real nightclubs, everything else are just bars with dancefloors. Despite that, I had some of the best nights of my life in them, and it was not because of the nightclub itself but because of the people that were there with me. Getting drunk with people from 20 different countries and all dancing in a nightclub is an experience from another world, so whenever you get to Hradec and to the residence, talk to everyone! Talk to every erasmus student, and your nights will be incredible.

Many people don't speak english so learn some simple words/sentences like "hello", "card"/"cash", "please", "thank you" and whatever else you feel like you're going to use a lot
