What is it like to live in Hradec Králové? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Hradec Králové is quiet, and opposite to Prague. It consists of the old era buildings, even my university is preserved from the ancient times. If you are a student, the best place to study is here. The city is small, so you can find yourself round. There are many pubs, cafes and all the necessities. The atmosphere is also really nice.
What is the student lifestyle like in Hradec Králové?
Some say student lifestyle is boring, but it depends. You have to make friends, occupy yourself with many opportunities for sport, and there is also a nice library nearby. There are also many gyms here.
How much does it cost to live in Hradec Králové?
You need about 10,000 CZK minimum for a studio flat, 6,000 CZK if you share one.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Hradec Králové? Is there any advice you can give?
No not at all. There are 4 agencies which can help you out on good and cheap accomodation. Flats are better.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
I make my own food, but there are many dishes to try.
What places would you recommend visiting in Hradec Králové?
Large Square definitely with the Holy Ghost cathedral and white tower. Go to Futurum if shopping is your thing.
Is it good to eat out in Hradec Králové? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Large Square contains over 30 restaurants. Pizza Luigi is the best for Pizza. Royal Maharaja if you want a bit of Indian spices. Zdrava Basta is perfect for all the healthy food and really cheap salmon dishes. There are chip shops and many more. KFC and McDonald's are also available.
Is the nightlife good in Hradec Králové? Where is good to go?
There are places like Xtreme, where the ISU (International Student Union) organizes good disco parties, with cheap beer and a great DJ.
What advice would you give future students heading to Hradec Králové?
It's a nice place but quiet, and cultural. Overall good for studying.
