What is it like to live in Hamburg? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Hamburg is called as the „most beautiful city“ in the world by its inhabitants for a reason. It has good size and transport system to see all parts of the city. It has a lot to offer in cultural, achitectural and other things for everyone. Some quarters are very „high-society“ and snobby others are very young, alternative and feel international. It has a beautiful harbour directly in the city, a beach, probably the most and best party places in the world together with Amsterdam and Vegas.

What is the student lifestyle like in Hamburg?

Hamburg is neither cheap nor expensive, but renting flats can be expensive. Hamburg has a lot of universities which are good connected by spare time activities.

How much does it cost to live in Hamburg?

Ist depends on the part of the city and your standards. You‘ll need at least 500€ per Month for flat or room and living costs like groceries etc. But you can easily spend 800€ or more of you habe Special wishes for the apartment or go for clubbing every week.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food is international. I can recommend a lot of things in schanze and st pauli. Just ask

What places would you recommend visiting in Hamburg?

St.Pauli, but please not only Reeperbahn and grosse Freiheit. Go for the parts beside that like Paul-roosen-strasse or wohlwillstrasse. Schanze itself is always a Must and the other typical tourist things are Nice as well. Oh and strandpauli or watch out for open airs during Summer.

What advice would you give future students heading to Hamburg?

Don‘t be that guys coming from abroad and behave like idiots when you‘re drunk. Beside that enjoy all of this beautiful city!
