Santorini - Crazy moment

  • Santorini - A quick decision

The morning in Santorini always has something tempting a half-professional traveller like me which I cannot resist doing something crazy. It is the warm sunshine in the midst of cold weather that creates a peaceful and gentle setting, and feels like here from the light, the color, the wind or even the sunshine with special characteristics and cannot be confused with any other places around the world.

I quickly wake up after a night like every other night in the journey. Everything to do today is to take the sunset photos, to eat breakfast and to wash my clothes, then I have finished everything, it was also 11 pm night, surfing the web then go to sleep is the end work of the day. The next morning I tried to get up early, but my time is limited to sleep for the beautiful Santorni, everymoment not used here is very wasteful, costly labor of new effort is gone through here !!! Because the food on the island is not too expensive so in Santorini I did not go to supermarkets to buy things to cook, but every day I went to enjoy some snacks in different shops. Outside the hostel, at the hostel entrance this morning, there are quite a lot of Westerners sitting in front of the kitchen, cooking and even some old couples go as hard as we do.

My first work of the day is to consider going to the airport tonight. My flight Santorini - Athens will depart at 11 pm, but if I catch the bus from hotel Ikaros I will have to take the bus at 7 pm to go to the airport while I did not want to miss the sunset today in Thira. So I figured out how to get to the airport, wandering on the internet for a while to finally find a cheap airline taxi to carry passengers to the airport. They advertise if they go with the whole group is cheaper, if the single registration costs 10 euros per person. On the other hand is also disadvantageous, I bite teeth accepted a bit expensive, rather than miss a sunset view in this beautiful village of Thira and Oia.

Aftern I have done : finish the project, check-out the hotel and send the finished goods. I took out the motorcycle (rent from yesterday) to continue the journey on the island. Today's schedule is to drive down to the southwestern part of the island, where Red Beach and White Beach are, and then return to Thira at 2pm, then wander there until dark.

  • The roads on the island

Santorini is so handsome, yesterday I was immersed in the mythical film of houses with green roofs wandering on the mountain, the stairs back and forth, today is another experience. Indeed, today I have an experience with the land and nature. Driving alone on the road seems like an endless sense of special. For me, the road is clean and beautiful, it is small and only two lanes, in the middle is white line as an arrow lead us not see the end point.
On the one side is the mountain and the other side is the sea when the crabs, the winding pass, then there are places on both sides of the sea, in front of the blue sky is not a cloud.

Oh my love , this place is beautiful too !!!

  • Occasional to a small strait I have to stop the car, run to the cliff and admire this majestic landscape a beat. Most of the roads or villages on the island are located above the mountains, higher than the sea level.
  • So you can stand up high and look out to see the sea, sky and everything, only one word: "too beautiful"!]

From the village of Thira I  run down Red Beach, which  is quite far, usually also bus for this route. On the map it looks like this area is in the south of the island, but in fact I believe Santorini is a horizontal island, Red Beach and White Beach are exactly southwest of the horizonal island. In addition to the two famous Oia and Thira villages, I know that  Santorini also has a third, but less active, village than, it is called  Perissa, where the typical black sand beach, which a guy  I have met yesterday, is also staying couch surfing in the village.

  • Red Beach

On that morning day,  I came to Red Beach, and here I understand why this place has such a name. All the geologic things here, such as earth, rock, sand, and cliffs all have a red color of the lava, of course, the color of the sea is not the same! Santorini is also known as the island of volcano, sand on the coast and high cliffs covered in a dark red like there has been a massive eruption.

I wandered along some Santorini tourists to the back of the cliff, oh a beautiful beach pops out, and curved like the arcs I just ran to. There are a lot of visitors swimming and sunbathing on this beach.

From the island until now I feel the real sea, but to say that since I arrived in Europe right. My trip to Santorini is different and I have to go to Barcelona and Venice to see the sea, but it is definitely not a place of wilderness and has a special character like this beach in Santorini. Guests here are quite free, sunbathing and just wearing bikini, I roam a while mainly to look at and take pictures only. While Red Beach is dark red, White Beach is also covered in a white, unmistakable white, which you will see pretty much if you search for phrases on Greek beaches and islands. If you have time from White Beach you can go to see the lighthouse -Faros Lighthouse  which is also very beautiful, but it is also late and it is time to pay so I returned to Thira always.

  • Return to Thira (Fira)

The rest of the time I continued to walk on the alleyways in Thira that yesterday I have missed. Still the stairs, the balcony overlooking the sea, but there is no sense of boring at all. Every single house here, or a hotel, a coffee shop builds itself a distinct trait, though quite similar in color. Occasionally I see a pair of lovers lying sunbathing and welding, or a guest who is sitting alone in the balcony reading a relaxing, it is very peaceful indeed.

Thira looked like this, but the village was large, and I estimated that the extent of the mountains was much wider than in Oia. There are points along the remote cliffs that I can not even come to, thinking it is the same here! Ah, but another interesting place I'm looking for in Thira is the legendary blue roof house that I've seen on so many photos, stickers that go on forever. And then after an afternoon of wandering I discovered it, a place quite far from the center of the village, and the house was quite isolated. Waiting for the sunset when the sun shines directly at this house, a picture that creates a lot of emotion and I think this scene may have entered the legend of this island of Santorini. You can see the photo that I captured below:

  • Thira - Santorini - Say Goodbye

Wandering again at 6 pm, I decided not to go and choose a fixed location to watch the sunset. Time drifted very fast, the sun down the mountain, I ran back and forth where the sunlight shone straight toward the village to find the most beautiful corner, then it was nearly 8pm. Even though I still have to pull back, the taxi I booked in the morning probably arrived and was available at the hostel. Hurry to hurry to shoot some last photos, I arrange the furniture as if flying back home.

At this time I decided to wait a little bit more after the sunset - to take the photo of blue hour in Santorini ( or more specific - Oia Blue Hour). In this time, I have already equiped myself with a good location as well as good supporting camera stuff - my tripod.

Going to the hostel at 8pm 15, then I call a taxi to carry me to the airport to, it is very charming indeed. I can still imagine the cab for me is very much spacious turned out to be alone, carrying as vip guest to the airport.
Goodbye Santorini, the island that I think like two days here as the days I live in the myths, a mythical life ...

Then one day I come back, sure ...
