Granada: a dream come true
There are many beautiful cities in the world, but Granada is special, and I feel very fortunate to have been there.
I went to Granada via bus. At the same station, there was an information desk that helped me to plan my stay, especially by pointing me towards the transport that I needed to take to start getting to know the city.
I went to Granada, like many people, with the main aim of visiting the Alhambra. Everything that they say about this place is an understatement.
It's recommended to buy the tickets in advance, as it receives a lot of visitors and the Nasrid palaces have a limited number of places. I think that the best thing to do is to buy them around a month in advance. On Ticketmaster, you can find the official tickets for the whole of the Alhambra and Generalife.
I recommend going first thing in the morning and dedicating a whole day to visiting it. Visiting the Alhambra is in itself like visiting a city. It is very big and it has different buildings.
It is impossible to not be amazed by its gardens, its views, its exteriors, its doors, its roofs, its tiles, its domes, its columns, its fountains, and every one of the features that make it up. The Alhambra and Generalife are paradise for any lover of art, history, culture, architecture or even nature.
But in addition to this, Alhambra is not the only site that is worth visiting in the city, not by a lot.
During my stay in Granada, I decided to use the tourist train. Honestly, I completely recommend it. It takes you through all of the important places in the city and you can get off to calmly visit whatever interests you, and then later get back on it.
Granada has some really pretty and interesting areas. It is interesting how in this city Muslim culture has and still has lots of importance. Its streets, houses, shops and Arabic style houses give a very special touch to the city.
The food in Granada is really good, and in the city you can easily find lots of restaurants where you can try traditional dishes. I tried the "sartén alpujarreña" (a dish based on typical ingredients from Alpujarra) which was definitely worth it. I also recommend the piononos (small pastries) a delicious dessert that you can eat in various ways.
Continuing with the places to visit in the city, I have to say that there are various viewpoints where you can find perfect views of the city. Also, the Paseo de los Tristes is also a unique place which is worthwhile visiting.
Another stand out place is without a doubt the Alcaicería market. This artisan market will make you feel like you are in an authentic Arabic souk, and I recommend that everyone spends at least a bit of time walking through the shops, although you can spend all the time here that you want without getting bored.
In the same area are the Cathedral and the Royal Chapel of Granada, a beautiful building as much from the outside as the inside.
