Concert Venues in Granada
This is just a little article about the different concert and event venues in Granada. Coming from Bordeaux, a city which hosts a multitude of concerts and events every year of all kinds of genres, I admit that that changed my view when I got to Granada. In fact, if you are a music amateur you can forget concerts that feature relatively known artists for a whole year. It’s not complicated, you have the choice between concerts of exclusively Spanish singers or flamenco concerts. Jokes aside, even if it is difficult to find a good concert, some places offer good music and events that you shouldn’t miss.
La Tren: A concert hall situated in La Chana offers electronic, reggae, dub or Balkan concerts almost every week. It is however very difficult to go there every week… In fact, you see, it’s the type of evening that costs quite a lot. To start with, the price of the concert (get your tickets beforehand to pay less) is between 6 and 12 euros. Next, the usual expenses of a night out (whatever it costs to have fun) and to finish, the transport… This venue is located in La Chana, it’s a neighbourhood which is very far from the centre (if you’re leaving from Plaza Nueva give yourself a good hour to an hour and a half. ) So there you go, you may be willing to walk there on foot but I assure you you’ll go home in a taxi. And to finish, of course, there’s no bus :) Despite all of this it’s a guaranteed good night if you like music that is good for dancing.
La Industrial Copera: Based on the outskirts of the city this venue is a lot more accessible (the shuttle bus). The events are often electronic style. To tell you the truth this site isn’t very attractive, it’s quite expensive and far from the city. However for those who like electronic music it’s very good. There are a lot of German DJs whose mixes last until the early morning. Of course, get your tickets in advance.
Sala Huétor Vega: Located on the way out of the city (by shuttle bus), this open-air complex organises various events. The complex is on top of a hill and overlooks the city of Granada which gives a magnificent view point. This year I took part in two events: The Colour Festival and the Sunny Day. The Colour Festival last September was one of my first trips out of Granada. As the name indicates it is a festival of colour, the principal is simple: we throw colourful paint all day with music and all-you-can-drink drinks.
The events often take place in the afternoon. The second event was Sunny Day, always with a very electronic-style playlist with, for once, more well-known artists in this genre like Nina Kraviz or Vitalic. A little expensive but well worth the price, I had such a good night!
Le Lemon Rock: Offering a lot more relaxed atmosphere Le Lemon Rock is a bar which from time to time offers acoustic concerts, it’s always pleasant to go and watch with friends, a beer and tapas.
-La Booga Club: La Booga is a nightclub but sometimes offers concerts earlier in the night. It’s my favourite place to go out. The music is always good, the place looks pretty good and the people who go there are often really nice.
