Granada in 24hrs
Hello!
Welcome, once again to my blog about travelling experiences... Ah! And Happy Christmas to all of you!
This time we are heading off to Granada, the perfect city for beach and snow lovers!
In the winter, the Sierra Nevada and its slopes are perfect for skiing, however also great for those who don't love it - they can enjoy a small town with a thousand and one activities to do.
In the summer, the beach!
As it is close to my city, I have visited Granada quite frequently. Furthermore, due to being from a small school, they brought us to the Sierra Nevada to enjoy the snow almost every winter. Such good times!
Today I look back and remember that Granada is much more than that, Granada has beautiful neighbourhoods and great places to enjoy tapas and sunshine.
This year my visit was in autumn, so I was not able to visit the snow as it had not snowed yet and it was too late to go to the beach, because it is cold in Granada.
It was short, we only had one weekend, and therefore one day in Granada because the other two were for travelling there and back, so we didn't do anything but get in the car.
- The Alhambra
Going to Granada without seeing this marvellous monument is like you didn't go to Granada at all!
This last time I couldn't go on because of lack of time, it is difficult that you can see the Alhambra on the inside in one day, but that does not take away from admiring the precious monument from outside. How amazing!
Within it, on the numerous occasions that I have visited it, I have enjoyed incredible spaces such as the Palace of Muhammed V, the Mozarabic Hall, The Gardens of the Generalife and much more. But I always like to walk past the Lion Courtyard above all, it is one of the most well-known areas of Granada.
- Cathedral of Granada
A habitual monument in almost all of the cities, and in Granada it is spectacular. It is an essential visit even if your itinerary is only one day.
Incredible! It's pretty on the outside, but even more so on the inside, so you should pay and visit it because it is worth it to see the inside.
Inside, it is enormous. In it you will be able to visit 5 naves, the most important one: the Central Nave, in which you will be able to enjoy the Main Altar, where, for me, the stained-glass windows and the vault of the Main Chapel stand out.
Also within the Cathedral of Granada, you will be able to observe different chapels, highlighting the Chapel of Our Lady of Antigua, where you will see the portraits of the Catholic Monarchs. .
Every time I can go to Granada, it is necessary for me to stop at the cathedral. So, make sure you visit it.
- The Neighbourhood of Albaicín
A charming area, steep and narrow streets and houses painted white and with interior gardens, many bars, many tourists, many tea shops... With views of the Alhambra. Take a trip through this precious neighbourhood!
Lose yourself and discover every charming corner in this area, and visit its surroundings which are beautiful as well, and the viewpoints, of course.
You can't go to Granada without visiting this pretty part of the city.
Spectacular!
- Enjoy the sunset at the Saint Nicolás Viewpoint
Another must-do tourist activity on your trip to Granada, ideal to finish off the day of sightseeing and prepare for some tapas and of course, for dinner, after seeing sunset in Granada.
With magnificent views of the Alhambra and Sierra Nevada, a photo with these two beautiful backgrounds is essential.
In addition, you may find street artists singing flamenco and other artisans selling their work.
The atmosphere... Incredible! Many tourists, many people from Granada... Many people enjoy the sunset from this place.
It's essential to visit the Saint Nicolás Viewpoint!
- Tapas in Granada.
It's essential that you enjoy the tapas on their terraces when you're in Granada because there are always people eating in the street whether it's summer or winter.
Furthermore, enjoy a tea in the tea rooms, something everyone in Granada does.
Finally, to conclude a good day of tourism in Granada, it is essential to have tapas in any corner of Granada, in any terrace or bar. It's all amazing!
All of it is magnificent because Granada's gastronomy is wonderful.
Enjoy it!
One day will never be enough to be able to enjoy Granada and all of its corners, that's why you should visit all that you can in the time you have. Although, Granada will give you the feeling that you always want to go back, because the city is magical.
Whenever I have a gap in my agenda I let myself go to Granada and, to tell you the truth, it is very worth it.
Until next time, travellers!
