Why did you choose to go to Gothenburg, Sweden?

I chose to come to Gothenburg because I was really curious to learn about a Scandinavian country

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I receive around 500€ for almost 3 months.

What is the student lifestyle like in Gothenburg?

The student lifestyle in Gothenburg is quite laid back. You will probably only have one class at the time. There are many many other students because there are 2 universities in the city, and a lot of Erasmus students as well.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Gothenburg to other students?

I would recommend Gothenburg :)

What is the food like?

I'm vegetarian, but I haven't had any problems so far finding things to eat. There are quite a few vegetarian products in the supermarkets and in restaurants they usually have 'vegetarisk' options. MAX is a very famous fast-food restaurant and they have DELICIOUS burgers (veggie and meat). You must also try the Kannebullars, delicious typical cinnamon buns!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Gothenburg?

I got my accommodation through university, if you have the chance get it. You'll meet loads of other students :)

How much does it cost to live in Gothenburg?

It is quite expensive to live here, but you can always find cheaper options, like doing your grocery shopping at Willies instead of ICA or Coop, and going for beers during 'afterwork' where you get free food buffet.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The language is not very easy, but everybody here speaks english. Really.

I haven't started the language course yet but there is one available for free at uni.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Gothenburg in the future?

The tram is really easy to get the grips of, you won't have much problem moving around. Do download the Vassttrafik app and it will tell you which trams to take depending on where you want to go. If not you can always use Google Maps.
