The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!

In this article I want to tell you about my experience in Rabati and that you should definitely visit it if you are in Georgia, because it’s really an interesting place and it’s just been reconstructed and it’s a place, where you will see the history with some modern architecture and it’s a pretty wonderful place in all, if you ask me.

Well, some people didn’t like it and some people didn’t like what the government had done about that,I mean, they mostly didn’t agree on reconstructing this historical site with modern architecture and stuff like that, however, I really liked it and it’s a great place for tourists, you know, and while it was being ruined, these people tried and made something useful and good and it’s not a great idea not to appreciate that.

This place has become very popular among the tourists and Georgians , too, and there are often microbus tours for a day going to Rabati and sightseeing it and then returning to Tbilisi just the way they went to Rabati, you know, and these tours don’t cost much, perhaps somewhere about 15 laris and that’s pretty good offer, considering that there is a group of people and they are taken by that microbus to Rabati from Tbilisi and then back to Tbilisi, of course, and in the meantime, there can be some other places, which they can visit, I mean, you can’t really spend the whole day in Rabati, and usually there are some other places, that they visit during the tour.

About Rabati Castle

Rabati is located in Akhaltsikhe, Samtskhe, Georgia and it was built in the 9-th century. There’s this river Potskhovi nearby it and it’s very beautiful around there and everyone should really visit it, if you ask me. I was very glad to go there with my classmates and everything and it was our excursion after finishing our study year at school and we were really looking forward to that day of going to Rabati Castle.

You know, Rabati Castle has been focus for the enemies for many times and there was this one time, when the Russian conquerors came there and there's the painting work of a Russian artist Sukhodolsky “Assault of the Akhaltskikh fortress on 15 August 1828” about that, too.

Well, I don’t really remember, but I guess, there was this Rabati and Vardzia tour in one day with that microbus and you should pay the money, so that they would know, that you were going there and that was it. You just had to show up on that exact time and go to Rabati then, you know. And many excursions have been made because of that, I mean, usually pupils are taken to excursions after they finish the study year or something like that and since Rabati was very popular, they all went there some time ago and they were all very pleased and everything. well, of course, they didn’t just see Rabati and they went to other places, too, nearby, I mean. And we went there, too, with my classmates and we were in Vardzia, too, after that and it was a great trip, I mean, I really enjoyed seeing Rabati and walking into those arches and everything. it is a very well-decided and constructed place and it was a really good idea to reconstruct it, so that the more people would know about it and many people would go there, and that’s what happened, of course. You know, there were many people criticizing the decision and didn’t like what there was done, however, it’s good for tourism development and people actually can earn some money with that, I mean, there are people outside that place selling some stuff and then , when you know, that this site is a tourist site, you can prepare some souvenirs and sit nearby the place and sell those souvenirs and, you know, tourists just love souvenirs and everything and they can pay a lot when it comes to souvenirs. Well, they maybe realize after some time, that they had paid plenty in those souvenirs, which they probably won’t use and that they just didn’t need to buy so many things while having their trips to here and there, however, it’s god for those sellers, because that way they earn some living and they can take that money and use it in their families for those necessary things. Well, they can’t really earn too much, however, they can earn roughly enough, so that they can buy some food for their children or whatsoever they want to do. You know, most of them have families and there’s a rare case, when one of them don’t have a family, I guess, however, I don’t think that’s possible, because in Georgia, everyone has a family who sits outside some historical building and sells handmade souvenirs and stuff like that, if you ask me.

Anyways, you should know, that buying those souvenirs, you help those people, however, you should not really buy too much souvenirs if you don’t want to gift them to your friends or something, because in that case, the souvenirs will be more than enough and then you will not know where to take them or store them or put them, you know.

As I’ve already mentioned, this Castle was just recently reconstructed and it is just very beautiful from the outside and the inside. There are these vast halls and all those amazing columns constructed and it’s like you are in the Ottomans’ empire or something like that with all those architectural beauties and everything. it’s just this thing, that when you are visiting it in a hot weather, there’s very hot there, because there are not many trees and it’s like you are just walking under the Sun and everything and you are sweating greatly , if you want to know the truth. However, when going inside of those halls and things like that, you just feel this amazing breeze and even kind of cold, you know.

Well, you must see the castle yourself to truly feel its majesty and excitement. This is a place worth visiting and if you are in Georgia , you should definitely go there and see this amazing place!
