Getting driver's license. Theory exam

Going to Rustavi

Anyways, it was like 7 a. m. or something when I woke up. It’s like a reflex, I guess, because when you know that something important awaits you the other day, you just wake up early and then it’s really bad, I guess, because then you just feel sleepy the whole day and stuff like that, you know. It’s just a horrible feeling. Well, since I was awake, I decided to have a look at those questions that I had marked the other day. Those were the ones that I had mistakenly answered and some of them were those ones that I needed to review again, because there was a chance of forgetting them in a moment or so. I mean, perhaps, I had answered them correctly with some logical thinking and stuff like that, however, I still thought that it was wiser to review it again and see whether I could answer it correctly or not. Well, after checking those questions, I realized that I knew all of them, because I answered them correctly and I was pretty happy about that. And then, the time came to get ready and wake my brother up, because he was the one who would take me to Rustavi examination center and he told me that we would go there at 9 a. m. or so. So that I poured my coffee, got some of those wafers and nuts with chocolates and took a bottle of water, too, of course, and, well, my brother was awake then while I was doing all those things and he got ready, too, and we went to the car.

It was a hot day, I can say. It was the 30th of August, Tuesday morning, however the sun was already shining like hell and it was really hot. We went to the petrol station first, and we had to wait in a line, because there were cars in front of us who wanted to have full refuel and so it needed some time, you know. Well, then, we were on our way to Rustavi.

At first, I thought that I would review those tests again while on the road, however I was so sleepy and out of the reality, that I changed my mind and just decided to look out of the window and sightsee and do nothing and I was just sitting like that in the car and looking around. It takes something about half an hour from Tbilisi to Rustavi, I guess. And there are two ways of getting there, as I know. The one is from Kakheti Highway, and I guess, it leads to old Rustavi and then you can get into that new Rustavi. And the second one is from Tbilisi, from Ortachala and stuff like that. Well, we went to Rustavi that way.

To tell you the truth, Rustavi is a very hot place, I mean there are not many trees or something and I’ve been there several times and it’s pretty hot there, especially in summers. And this automobiles’ place and the examination center are on such place where there are no trees at all and nothing to be inside, so that people just stand there in that hotness and sweat. That is just crazy, you know, and they can’t do anything about it. Well, they have to be there, so that they need to stand that hotness somehow. And you should see those cars parked there outside. There are so many cars and they are all parked there for some time, of course, and when the sun shines down on them, they just become so hot, that you can’t really sit in them, and the wheel gets pretty hot, too. Perhaps one should have some gloves to put them on and drive the car that way, otherwise it’s just impossible to touch the wheel, if you want to know the truth. It kind of helps if you have all those windows down or the doors open, however, no one stays in their cars, I mean, they are there for some reasons and they have some things to do there and that’s why they are there, of course, and not to sit in the cars and stuff like that. So that, all those cars are parked and locked and everything. And then, when those people go to their cars and unlock them and get into them, they realize how it’s impossible to be in that car. So that, they have to open those doors and get those windows down and wait a little for the car somehow to get less hot, so that it can be possible somehow to get into it and drive, and then, when you drive it and some air gets into it, it all gets easier and you don’t feel that hotness anymore, rather than some discomfort of it, however, it’s all about getting used to things and, so the driver gets used to the hotness and stuff and drives the car nevertheless, I guess.

Anyways, we got to Rustavi examination center and we parked the car nearby that center and we went in the center, where there were people outside of it and inside, too, and, to be honest, there were kind of many people, despite the fact, that it was summer and everyone was on holidays at the seaside or somewhere else, there were still many people, if you ask me. Well, I hadn’t been there before and I don’t know, how many people there usually are for the driver’s license, so… Well, getting in, we took a ticket, which we needed for the queue in the bank, first of all, and then in the registration and then in the examination room. As I had this ID with student sign on it, they said that I had to pay only 15 Laris for taking the exam and 1 Lari was for commission of the bank. So it was 16 Laris for all. They gave me this check and told me to wait for the registration center to call my name. There were some other people waiting in line for that registration, too. Well, I guess, they were four or something like that. And there was this woman, who was saying that she was taking the exam for the 10th time or so, or maybe she didn’t really remember, and she was wondering if she had to take the theory exam again or not. And, don’t be surprised, but there are many people just like her and some of them even takes the exam for the 20th time or so, I guess. Well, that’s what people say and you have got to believe them, because they just don’t invent things like that. Maybe they kind of exaggerate, I don’t know, but there are some true facts, too, about those things.

So, soon I was called in the registration area and they asked me my ID card and that check and the document about my health, they also asked my telephone number and then asked to sit in a chair and look at the camera so that they could take a picture of me for the driver’s license document. Then I had to give them my signature and then I was to go and get in line for the theory exam. There were already some people in that theory examination room and it was full of them, so that when one of them finished their examination, they would come outside and then this policeman would shout out “next! ” and the next in the line would go in. So, again, there were four people before me or five, so that it was soon my time to go in. Well, to be honest, I expected kind of more, I mean, the tables and chairs there were kind of uncomfortable and they kind of rocked a little, I guess. The monitors, where the exam questions were displayed were put not in front of you, but kind of turned around, and it was kind of uncomfortable, too, and well, everything was kind of uncomfortable, if you ask me. When I got in and took a seat, they told me to read the instructions and type my personal number in it and then start the exam. Well, I read the instructions pretty carefully and, at the same time, I just tried to get used to that environment, you know. Then I clicked on the start button and the exam started. Well, the questions were all familiar, of course, and it was pretty easy to answer them, however, I still read each of them very carefully not to answer any of them mistakenly or something like that. There was this new thing there, too, and it was those animated videos. I read in those instructions before the exam questions, that there may be some videos demonstrating the correct way of cars passing each other or things like that, so that it was not a surprise when, after one question, those cars started moving and things like that. It was kind of amusing, if you want to know the truth. And it made me get on a better mood, I guess, because it was still pretty exciting. There were these two questions, though, that I was not a hundred per cent sure about the answer. And they have this function of getting on next questions and then getting back to those who you are not sure about, so I just skipped those two questions and continued my exam.

There are 30 questions in all and you can have 3 mistakesyour exam to be considered passed, so, if I had answered 28 questions correctly, I wouldn’t have to worry whether I could answer those two correctly or not. So that, when I answered all those 28 questions correctly and got back to those two questions that I had skipped, I was not bothered about them, however, I still answered them correctly and so that I had 30 out of 30 and that was pretty cool. It said that I passed the exam successfully and that the examination in theory exam was over! Then I stood up and went to the door, where this policeman congratulated me about successfully passing the theory exam and told me to go to the practical examination zone, which was nearby, just on the left from that theory examination center.
