The introduction

Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!

In this article I want to tell you about my flight day back to Germany and share it with you.

So today i was going to go back to Germany again. I had the ticket printed out and everything ready for my trip, however, it was just a morning and my flight was in something about 20 hours or so, so that I could enjoy my day here and it was that night that my uncle came home from Europe and he called my father and invited us to his house. He hasn't been there for a long time and he was very glad to fibally be home and, besides, it was Christmas and he just got home that Christmas night, you know. I got pretty excited, becausr I hadn't seen him since summer and while my visit to Prague, he wrote to me saying that he was coming to Prague, however, it was already my time to leave that city and we couldn't meet each other and then he was in Germany and we still couldn't see each other even there. So that we could just meet there in Georgia, where our home is. So i was looking forward to going to Giorgitsminda and meet him and others, too, and it was going to be a short visit though, because I didn't really have my baggage packed or something like that.

Flight day. part 1. Going to Kakheti

Anyways, I had some time until we went to Kakheti, so my sister suggested going shopping, because I wanted to take some things to Germany and I agreed and we went to this kind of a marketplace, where there are many things, that you can find and buy. And my mother went with us, too. Well, we walked here and there and we bought some things and, you know, this area nearby Varketili metro station is pretty awesome in a way. There are all these shops and bazaars and you can choose where you want to buy something and sometimes they have better things in bazaars than in the shops and in much more cheaper prices, you know, so that if you want to have something for a good price that you won't care much whether you will have to put it in a trash sometime soon, you should go there and buy that thing there. However, they are not that bad,  I mean the quality is not that bad comparing to its price, in fact, they last quite long, if you want to know the truth.

Well, I also wanted to buy a brush for my powder and there's this shop nearby Varketili metro station, it's called Navne and it has some other shops around the city and they have some good stuff there mostly it's for personal hygiene and shampoos and cosmetics and perfumes and even some pants and clothes so that you can visit this shop and you may find many things there that you can buy for yourself and the prices are reasonable, too. So, the other day when we went there it was closed, I guess because of the holiday or something, you know, it was Christmas that day and I thought that they were closed because of that. So, we didn't get the chance to buy some things there , however, then I heard that they had some modifications there and made the place larger.

Well, then we went to this supermarket called Fresco, which is nearby our apartment and it's a pretty good supermarket, if you ask me, and my sister wanted to buy Nutella and she had been wanting to eat it for quite some time and finally she could buy it and eat it. You know, there are some Nutellas in glass and then you can use them as usual glasses, and they cost 5.50 Laris and they are 250 ml or something and they are pretty delicious and that was what my sister wanted. So we took that nutella and then there were some chocolates,  that I wanted to take with me in Germany, because everyone there has chocolates with them and especially this time in winter, you know, Christmas and stuff. So I wanted to have some Georgian chocolates taken with me in Germany and I know that Barambo has some good chocolate and they have this new chocolate,  too, it's called Friends and I tasted one of them and it was really good. It has caramel and I love caramel and it just costs no more than 2 Laris. Then there was this chocolate with Georgia on it and it had these chocolates in it wrapped with photos of Georgian sites and there was another one about Tbilisi and it had photos of Tbilisi in it. My sister liked the first one better, however, me and my mother thought that the Tbilisi one was more beautiful with those photos so that we took that Tbilisi chocolate and I could give them to my friends and host family there in Germany. Well, I also bought some small Barambo chocolate bars, they are really tiny and they are of caramel and milk chocolate.

By the time we finished our shopping, my father and brother were already ready to go to Kakheti and, well, we got home. And there was this surprise _ my brother had finally cut the pineapple that we bought for the New Year, but there hadn't been a moment to cut it and he knows some technique to cut it into butterfly shapes and other things, you know, so that it's really beautiful and easy to eat. The first time he cut the pineapple was on my sister's birthday anf the people were amazed by it, if you want to know the truth. So, we had this pineapple and it was really delicious and I ate many pieces of it, i must say.

Going to Kakheti

Then we hit the road. It was afternoon or something like that and we were going to get to our house and see my grandparents and then we would go to my uncle's house. It's just about a half an hour to get to Kakheti and it's kind of easy to get there. So that we were there soon and I saw my grandparents and I could say goodbye to them until I would fly back to Germany.

There's this thing we call Mtsnili in Georgia and it's a pickled thing and my aunt had made this amazing pickled cabbage, which was really great and I wanted something to eat and I saw it and ate a lot, because I really love it and she knows that, of course. It's an amazing thing and everyone should taste it, if you ask me. I don't really know how it's prepared, however, if you are in Georgia,  there are many places, where you can buy this pickled cabbage, it is in supermarkets and on the streets in shops and things like that and it doesn't cost much.

Anyways, then we went to my uncle's house. He was already waiting for us and he had some things prepared. I was really glad to finally see him. Well, I saw my grandfather,  too, and another uncle and then came our cousins and other uncle and aunt and there were many of us there and we could all enjoy the Christmas,  you know.

There's this another thing, that I love and it's called Apkhazura and it's a great dish, which i used to eat all the time, I guess, and I wanted to eat it that day and I told my father to buy it. However, he suggested that he would prepare it himself and he bought the ingredients and he prepared it there. The preparation process was pretty interesting,  because I had never seen anyone preparing Apkhazura. We just used to buy it frozen and then cook it in a pan. Well, there was a fire lit outside and my brother was preparing Mtsvadi _ as he always does and then they would put these Apkhazuras there, too, and they would prepare them, too. When they were prepared, they had this amazing smell and when we tasted them, they were very delicious. Everyone liked them and ate them and I just wondered, how it was possible to make something like that.

My uncle had this fir-tree, too, however it was not in that room and it was very exciting when we saw him coming towards the room with this fir-tree in his hand pretty satisfied and stuff. He even had this large cake, which was really beautiful on the outside and everyone was interested whether it would be as delicious inside as it was beautiful from outside. Well, I will tell you, that it was really delicious,  too. It had this cocoa powder on it and it had bananas inside and a great cream filling, which was just great. I can say, that it was perfectly decided cake and the one who made it was really good at it, i guess.

You know, there's this thing,  that even if someone says that they want to have some Mtsvadi, people just don't let their tables be empty and wait for just mtsvadi,  so that they buy some other things, too, which, if the feast lasts long, may be eaten, however, when there is plenty of mtsvadi, no one really eats other things. However, my uncle loves roasted fish and he always buys some roasted fish in this market, where they prepare some good dishes and you can just buy them for your feastor whatsoever. They also have some great chicken and cutlets and stuff like that. So, there was plenty of roasted fish on the table and no matter how much someone wanted to taste it, they just couldn't, because they were full with all that mtsvadi. You know, it just feels that you are full of mtsvadi and when eating it, you think that you ate many, however that's not really true, because,  in fact, you have just eaten 5 or 10 pieces of mtsvadi and those pieces are not very large, they are pretty small.

You know, there's this another thing, that while drinking wine, people just want to drink some coffee, too, and that's better if you have some cake on the table during that time. My uncle loves that very much and he usually has some coffee while drinking wine and has a slice of cake, so that this time he could have it,  too, and my sister had this idea of preparing some coffee  and while my uncle was kind of surprised, she just said that she could handle it. So, you may ask, why he was surprised. That was because my sister usually doesn't prepare coffee, I mean, she doesn't really know how to prepare this coffee and I'm not talking about instant coffee that you can just dissolve in eater and that's it, I'm talking about the other one and the method, which people use to prepare it.

flight-day-1-going-kakheti-2e915a48e8560

You know, there are these coffee machines, which just make this coffee without any effort, however, some people don't really like them and they like their coffees to be prepared by this hard method, which my sister doesn't really know. So, you need an electric kettle or a gas and a heatproof pot or something like that to pour in some water for the coffee. And you should know how many cups of water it stands, because if there is more than enough, it will be spilled when boiled. Well, most people have one spoon of coffee and I don't know about the sugar, but many of them have more than one spoon of sugar, I guess. So, you add one spoon if that coffee and one or two spoons of sugar per person and then you pour in the relative amount of water and set it to boil. And you stir from time to time. Finally, when it boils, you should take it away from the gas or if it's electric, you should turn it off and then again turn it on or put it on a gas and some people do that a couple of times and then they say that the coffee is ready. Then they pour some of the coffee into cups and then they add  the rest of the coffee to those cups. Well, I guess, if the coffee is not that sweet as someone wants,  they can add some sugar to it, however, they usually don't. So, that's how that coffee is made, though my sister prefers that coffee machine,  which just does all this work on its own and the coffee is ready in just some seconds. So, why bother preparing something in a hard way when you can just use this coffee machine and have a great coffee with less effort.

Anyways, she made the coffee and I guess, they liked it, because they didn't say anything about not liking it, and besides, when she tasted it, she said that it was good, and they all had this cake sliced into pieces and, as I have already mentioned, it was really delicious. So, that was pretty much it, because we had to leave them as I had to pack my things and get ready for my flight, so that we said goodbyes and went back to Tbilisi. It was somewhere about 11 o'clock, I guess when we arrived, the road was all decorated with these Christmas lights and stuff like that and it was really beautiful.
