Rhine Tower

The Rhine Tower (Rheinturm) is one of the most recognisable landmarks of Düsseldorf, you can spot it in the skyline and from many corners of the city.

It's located in the Media Harbour (Medienhafen), the harbour on the Rhine and also one of the most modern neighbourhoods of the city. It is a panoramic tower higher than 200 m, from which you can admire all Düsseldorf. You can climb the tower paying a ticket and access to the first level on the observation platform with an elevator. Here there is even a bar, where you can order coffee, cakes or cocktails while enjoying the view.

On the second level there is a very fine restaurant of Japanese fusion cuisine.

Throughout the year, at the bar and restaurant are organised events and parties for special occasions, for example, the Day of Japan (Japantag) in May.

The tower is also a clock, indeed, the tallest digital clock in the world. At night, the lights mark the time along the entire height.

From here a lot of places can be seen very well: the NRW parliament, the New Zollhof with Frank O. Gehry's houses, the Rhine and the Oberkassel district on the other bank of the river, the old town (Altstadt) and sometimes - on clear days - Cologne's cathedral too.

Tips:

Visiting the tower is a must and it is a magical experience, but unfortunately, it is a bit expensive. The regular ticket costs € 9, but costs less (€ 5) in two time slots:

• the Early Bird ticket from 10:00 to 11:00 am; or
• the Late Night ticket from 10:00 pm to closing time.

Compared to the bars in Altstadt, the one here is expensive, but is not mandatory to take a drink, you can just go up here to enjoy the panorama. Considering the way it is presented, the restaurant is definitely very expensive and you also have to book in advance to dine here.
