What is it like to live in Dublin? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Yes, I would recommend Dublin although a small capital it definitely is multi-cultural and the Irish are extremely friendly people.

But be aware of the rainy days as you will a lot of these.

What is the student lifestyle like in Dublin?

The student lifestyle is good there are a number of different nationalities living in Dublin (European, North American, South American, African, Middle Eastern and Asian).

It can be expensive, but if you manage to cook often for yourself, you ride a bike and when going out for party you start with with a couple of drinks at home with friends it can definitely be managed.

How much does it cost to live in Dublin?

Rooms usually go from:

  • 450 to 600 if one person per room. And it would go lower if you don't mind sharing.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Dublin? Is there any advice you can give?

Yes. Try to find somewhere close to the Luas (primarily) or bus lines where you would take max 30 minutes to city center.

Or even better, get a bike and cycle, this will save a lot of money in rent and transport.

Also be aware of finding somewhere half way to College (if you are not studying in city center).

You should always see a house before you pay a deposit and definitely meet-up with your potential housemates.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Nowadays there is a lot you could choose from. There are new places popping up all the time. But avoid College cantines they are definitely not good at all.

Try to have your meals prepared home, and once in a while treat yourself with a take away (Indian, Lebanese, mexican, pizza, fish&chips, etc... )or if you really want to celebrate go out and you could find a decent meal in between 6 to 12 eurs with drink.

What places would you recommend visiting in Dublin?

Phoenix Park, National Library, Natural History Museum, National Gallery, Irish Film Institute, The Lighthouse Cinema, the traditional pubs (you have a lot of these all around the place, I could recommend "The Cobble Stone" and the "Stags Head").

Is it good to eat out in Dublin? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Mentioned above.
