Experience in Dublin, Ireland by EVE
What is it like to live in Dublin? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Living in Dublin is full of culture and activities all across the city. The city is rich with history and friendly faces, as well as great food and drink. There are many great areas for shopping and although public transport is somewhat harder to use than other countries, most of what Dublin has to offer is within walking distance.
What is the student lifestyle like in Dublin?
As a student who likes go out, the nightlife in Dublin is vibrant and varied. There are many great spots for drinks and dancing. Students are very welcome in Dublin, where food and transport is offered to students at a discounted rate in many places as well as many shopping destinations.
How much does it cost to live in Dublin?
Dublin, compared to many other european cities, is quite expensive in my opinion. Especially as a student the cost of transport and food, especially in the city centre can be quite pricey. Expect to pay 3/-5euro for a coffee and 4-7euro for a beer in the city.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Dublin? Is there any advice you can give?
Dublin, under recent times has come under conflict with the increase prices of rent in the city. The high demand for people looking for accommodation within the city rises the price of rent exponentially. Although student accommodation is often supplied by the college itself, students would find it easier than most to locate accommodation near their place of study. Not many colleges are located in the more expensive areas of Dublin.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
If you have any interest in good food, Dublin is a great place for you. Because it is near the coast, both north and south coast of Dublin is famous for great fish and chips. Burritos and gourmet burgers partnered with a beer are always popular in Dublin.
What places would you recommend visiting in Dublin?
Famous for our beer, the Guinness Storehouse is a must see in Dublin. The tour itself is fascinating and you finish it off with a free pint overlooking the city! Kilmaihnam Gaol is an old prison rich with history of Ireland's fight for independence from Britain, which is in walking distance from Guinness Storehouse. The galleries are also a great place to visit, and are also free!
Is it good to eat out in Dublin? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
My favourite spots include Bunsen Burger, Boojum and Diceys for a carver dinner!
Is the nightlife good in Dublin? Where is good to go?
Harcourt Street is full of lively clubs with cheesy club classics. Clubs like the Wa Wah Club, Button Factory and District 8 are popular venues for techno and house dj residencies for a more alternative sound.

Wrap up well and make sure to bring an umbrella as Dublin is famous for rain!
