What is the student lifestyle like in Dublin?

Dublin is an incredibly social city. Everyone knows everybody, even if they don’t really. Ireland’s just such a small country, and with Dublin at the heart, everyone feels like family. Not to mention the Irish culture that loves to socialize and party!

How much does it cost to live in Dublin?

Living in Dublin can be quite expensive, but again, different parts of the city are different.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Dublin? Is there any advice you can give?

There is huge demand in Dublin, as most Irish young people travel here to attend college. My advice is to search long and in depth, and prepare to be flexible. It would also be helpful to have a group of people you’d be comfortable sharing housing with.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

It’s very rare you’d see a strictly Irish traditional restaurant. Dublin is really multicultural, with every type of cuisine available. Personally, I love Indian food, especially an all you can eat buffet!

What places would you recommend visiting in Dublin?

The Guinness store house is an amazing experience and a huge part of Irish culture. Work your way through the interactive experience to the very top of the storehouse, where you can pull your own pint and enjoy it whilst overlooking the entire city!

One of my favorite places in the world is Temple Bar. It’s the coolest trendiest area of Dublin in my opinion, full of vintage rework shops, record stores, and chic nightclubs.

Is it good to eat out in Dublin? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

There is fast food everywhere. Multiple chains on every street. However if you want healthier food, you may have to be willing to pay a little bit more.

Chops is a healthy, organic, vegan salad bar, with several located over the city.

Jimmy Chungs is a very good Chinese buffet just off O’Connel street, for a very reasonable price of around €10 to eat as much as you’d like.

Is the nightlife good in Dublin? Where is good to go?

The night life in Dublin is amazing. Coppers is a huge nightclub that’s very popular with students. Personally I like the workman’s club, and also love going to small intimate concerts in The Academy.

What advice would you give future students heading to Dublin?

My advice to future students is to enjoy every second! Yes, you’re probably here to learn, but Dublin is an exciting, welcoming city ready to reward those who get involved !
