Erasmus Year in Dublin

Probably the best time I've ever had. People in Ireland are so nice and a lot of fun! Dublin is a great city for socialising and prices dropped a lot in the last 2 years.

The weather is something to get used to, but the winter is quite mild compared to home. But if you are looking for a hot summer, Dublin is not the place to come to.

The party life is great. You find a lot of traditional old Irish pubs but also very modern bars and night clubs - especially in the city centre. Pubs close early (around 12-1 am) and night clubs close around 2.30, so most people go out early.

Transport is ok. It could be better. Last regular buses and trams/trains leave at 11.30 pm, but if you miss these there are always nightlinks or taxis you can take.

There are plenty of nice restaurants and cafes in the city centre, but the best I found in a small suburb in the North of Dublin called Malahide. Check out Chez Sarah a small french wine bar. Or Siam Thai or Kajjal, a Pakistani Restaurant. Yummilicious!

Temple Bar - Dublin's most popular culture quarter. Well....there are a lot of "traditional Irish pubs"....so they say..To say the least: It's full of tourists and you hardly find an Irish person in this area unless they work there. It's nice to walk through and have a look, but if you are looking for good restaurants with nice and not over-priced food and hoping to meet a few Irish people, this would be the wrong place to look for them...
