Why did you choose to go to Dublin, Ireland?

It was already a designated part of my course.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

3 months (for Dublin) out of a 12 month course.

What is the student lifestyle like in Dublin?

Student lifestyle is great.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Dublin to other students?

Yes.

What is the food like?

Good, varied, but often expensive.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Dublin?

Yes. Accommodation in Dublin is very pricey, and my particular situation wasn't great. - Watch out for scammers if you haven't got the chance to view your room before you arrive.

How much does it cost to live in Dublin?

Rent - minimum 400 euros p/m. I spent around an additional 500-600 euros a month on food/travel/going out etc.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes. English is my native language so I had no problem.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Dublin from your city?

Walking! I did a lot of walking, Dublin is a small city and local transport is expensive. I did sometimes get the Dart (train) to get back home, which cost 1. 70 euros each way (3 stops) with a Student Leap card. I think buses are a bit more expensive.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Dublin?

Club - Opium rooms, Twisted pepper. Theatre - Project Arts Centre has by far the most interesting independent theatre. Also Abbey Theatre has some good performances.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Dublin?

Went to Umi Falafel quite a few times. Very reasonably priced. Also Porterhouse has some really good food, but a little more expensive.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

I spent more time going to the theatre than visiting cultural sites, but I hear the Guinness tour is really good. Also if you're interested in history the book of Kells at Trinity is quite interesting - you can also take in 4 friends for free (as well as yourself) if you have a Trinity student card!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Dublin in the future?

Prepare for it to be cold, wet and most of all windy if you're going in the winter! Probably nicer in the summer...
