What is it like to live in Dublin? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Dublin is a fantastic city either for just a quick visit or to live. It's always buzzing and there are lots of things to do and enjoy. Just a few kilometres from the city centre you have amazing scenic areas which are easy to get to thanks to the Dart (intercity train).

  • Dun Laoghaire (Teddy's ice cream)
  • Glendalough (County Wicklow)

What is the student lifestyle like in Dublin?

It's grand. Most students have part-time jobs. So get a job and you'll live comfortably. Join the societies at the university for obvious reason.

How much does it cost to live in Dublin?

Accommodation is expensive! All of the universities have on-site accommodation with a wide price range. You should be looking at spend between €450 - €650 per month on accommodation. Food is expensive enough but you have the likes of lidl which helps.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Dublin? Is there any advice you can give?

If you leave it too late then you will find it very difficult to get reasonably priced accommodation close to any university in Dublin. Use:

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

  • Heated scone with raspberry jam and a mint latte in Bewleys.
  • Porterhouse in Dublin is good for food. They brew their own beer too.
  • Noodles - Yum Thai off Grafton street. €5. 50 for students.

What places would you recommend visiting in Dublin?

IfI cinema, Lighthouse cinema, Jameson distillery.

Is it good to eat out in Dublin? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Lemon - savory and sweet crepes. I love the coffee they do there and try the Mexican crepe!

Is the nightlife good in Dublin? Where is good to go?

Most students will go into the city centre for a night out. Some bars and clubs have €2 drinks nights (usually excludes spirits). Diceys and Workmans are popular. Workmans do a great long Island.
