Why did you choose to go to Coventry, United Kingdom?

Because I wanted to spend a year in United Kingdom (I am studying English Filology) with some of my classmates and Coventry University offered us 5 vacancies.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I received many scholarships. Erasmus scholarship (1008€), MEC Erasmus scholarship (800€) and Xunta de Galicia Erasmus scholarship (1130€).

What is the student lifestyle like in Coventry?

There are thousands of students at Coventry University, therefore there are a lot of activities, trips, parties, language exchange clubs...

Would you recommend the city and the University of Coventry to other students?

Yes, I would. Coventry is a great university city that is close to London and Birmingham and that is a privilege. Also, Coventry University is a demanding institution where I learnt a lot.

What is the food like?

I used to buy the food in Morrisons (a big supermarket) and then I cooked it at home.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Coventry?

No, it didn't. Coventry University provides houses through all the city. We apply for one of them and we achieved a flat in the university house of Coundon Road.

How much does it cost to live in Coventry?

It was a bit less cheap than living in Spain but it was not extremely expensive.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Yes, English is quite easy. Besides, there are language courses in the University. I attended the German course and it was very useful.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Coventry from your city?

I travelled from Santiago de Compostela to London Stansted (Ryanair). Then, I took a National Express coach from the airport to Coventry.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Coventry?

I would recommend Kasbah, Careys, Platinum and also, the parties in the Hub organised by International Love.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Coventry?

I would recommend Wetherspoons, Nando's (Portuguese food), Bella Italia (Italian food), Cosmos (chinese food)...

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There is a cathedral and also, the ruins of an older cathedral that was bombed during the Second World War. It is interesting the Transport Museum, the statue of Lady Godiva, the Warwick Castle...
