Cordoba: Mezquita and Colour
I'm sure that when you hear about Córdoba, Andalucía, the first thing you think about is the gorgeous Mezquita Cathedral that, even though expectations are high, will still surprise you!
But Cordoba is so much more than just the Mezquita! Cordoba has streets filled with flowers and art that you can get lost in and along which I'm sure you will find many tourists walking.
And the gastronomy, nobody wins over Cordoba, and it will sound bad if I say it, because I'm from Cordoba, but it's a very true truth. "Salmorejo Cordobés"? "Rabo de Toro"? "Flamenquín Cordobés"? All of these should be accompanied with a good wine. Don't you fancy it?!
As I say, despite being from here, there are still many corners of Cordoba to discover, because Cordoba always surprises you, even if you have seen it a thousand times.
1. Don't think twice about going inside the Mezquita Cathedral. It's marvelous. And of course you should visit the Cathedral Tower and enjoy the views over Cordoba.
In addition to this, the Mosque has something very characteristic which is the Patio de los Naranjos, ask anyone and they will always know it, and tell you to walk through it.
For me, and that's why I recommend it so much, the nighttime visit to the Mosque made me fall in love even more, it's impressive. If you can do it, do it!
It's typical for me and my family to excitedly wait for the passing of Easter week from this Patio, and for the beautiful procession to leave from the doors of the Mezquita Cathedral.
Truthfully, it's a necessary visit!
2. Walk through the beautiful gardens of Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos. Not only are their gardens beautiful, but surely like me, what will surprise you most will be the gardens.
But the Alcazar has a lot more, an interior building that you cant lose, large fountains and beautiful views from the towers, wonderful!
3. But if something stands out about this city it's the atmosphere, Córdoba, I like it so much because there's always, wherever you go there is atmosphere.
What I like the most are the walks through the Jewish Quarter to enjoy its streets full of flowers and the views they leave between the blue pots of the Mosque, which give life and color to this city. In addition to the tapas, of course, in all the bars found in the Jewish Quarter.
I extend these walks in the afternoons when I have all the time in the world and I can enjoy endless strolls, and thus have something to drink in the Plaza de las Tendillas, or simply to enjoy all the clothes shops that there are in the streets near here. The atmosphere that is felt in the Corrredera Square is great where the bars are full of young people and people don't stop passing by and there are more people around you, and, well, I did not forget the Plaza del Potro, also very well known in the capital of Cordoba.
4. Something else that is impressive in Cordoba and that you cant forget about is the trip to the Roman Bridge, at day or night, it is always beautiful. And, I like it the most when you are walking from the bridge in the direction of the Mezquita, and you cross the Puente del Puente. .
I love it!
5. Have a drink at Mercado Victoria. It's my favorite place in Cordoba to eat, you choose or eat what you want and you can finish the day with some drinks with friends in the best possible way.
I go there a lot with my partner because both of us like it very much, it is a market where you can find traditional food stalls from many parts of the world, and of course, the land of Cordoba.
I would recommend you to try the 100 of flavours of "flamenquines", prawns or salmon, or Thai food... I would totally recommend it!
Visit it! You will love it!
6. Pass through the Calleja de las Flores, one of the most beautiful and interesting streets in Spain, full of flowerpots with pretty flowers all along the walls. It is a very long narrow street and sometimes people can't even pass by each other.
Spectacular!
Cordoba is not only what I have shown you here, Cordoba is so much more that I cant tell you - you have to come here for yourselves. So, I would totally recommend a visit to this land...
See you in the next one, travellers!
