Experience in Coimbra, Portugal by Denny
What is it like to live in Coimbra? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
It is a student city, a quiet and hospitable society. A little bit hilly, but pretty nice city. Like a little Hogwarts city in "Harry Potter", because each student wears a uniform like Harry Potter. By the way, the first "Harry Potter" book was written in Porto, Portugal.
What is the student lifestyle like in Coimbra?
They have their own traditions regarding students activities, such as celebration party for new students, and celebration party after graduation, and special students gathering party every year. With special students uniform, it feels like a Hogwart city.
How much does it cost to live in Coimbra?
I think 300 €- 400 € per month is enough.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Coimbra? Is there any advice you can give?
No, it is quite easy. Private apartments and student residences are available.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Portuguese dishes are just awesome and the bakeries mostly sweet.
What places would you recommend visiting in Coimbra?
Universidadede Coimbra, the bridge, and the street in front of the bridge.
Is it good to eat out in Coimbra? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Yes, it's cheap and tasty. I don't have special spots to eat.
Is the nightlife good in Coimbra? Where is good to go?
I have no idea about this, since the public transportation stops at 11 pm. But taxi is still reliable there.
