Why did you choose to go to Coimbra, Portugal?
Randomly.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
5 months scholarship. It was 386 euros per month.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Coimbra to other students?
Great environment, friendly people, beautiful architecture of the 2nd oldest university in Europe.
What is the food like?
Mediterranean. A lot of fish, meat and tasty fruits.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Coimbra?
Most of the places for students are quite cheap. You can find one for 200 euros (bills included).
How much does it cost to live in Coimbra?
Less than in Greece, almost the half!
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Portuguese is a Latin language. I guess it's easier if you already know English. There are good courses of the Portuguese language provided by the university.
Where would you recommend going on a night out in Coimbra?
It's not a big city. A pub crawl in the city centre would be perfect! Also, the park and the restaurants by the river is a really nice location, better to visit in spring or summer.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Coimbra?
The student canteens have good food.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Se velha, Se nova (old & new cathedral), the riverside, the university area and many more.
