Would you recommend the city and the University of Coimbra to other students?

Yes.

What is the food like?

Lots to choose from, delicious (especially fish), relatively low-cost.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Coimbra?

Yes, although not so much.

How much does it cost to live in Coimbra?

Depends on a personal preference and accommodation, really. Cannot give one universally valid answer.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

  1. If you're familiar with any other roman language, yes.
  2. Yes; you have to pay for some of them, though.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Coimbra from your city?

From Kraków to Coimbra: flight to Lisbon with a stop in London Stansted.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Coimbra?

If you're into this kind of things, basically any decent-looking club around Praça da Republica will do, really.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Coimbra?

Student canteens and Luna around Praça da Republica have very good value/price ratio. Plenty of restaurants offer nice "pratos do dia" during lunch time.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Churches, old university (no surprise here), cloister on the other side of river is nice too. Museum near Se Nova is certainly worth a try.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Coimbra in the future?

If you're going to stay over winter, try to find accommodation with as many sunny hours as possible. As most of the buildings in this beautiful country lack any form of heating, you'll need as many forms of "natural" heating as you can have, trust me.
