What is it like to live in Coimbra? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Coimbra is a very small and cozy city, the people are kind and friendly. You can go the most of places by walk or by bus wich is wonderful; I definitely recommend it.

What is the student lifestyle like in Coimbra?

In Engineering the most of students don't go to the morning theoretical classes: they normally have lunch in the canteens and go to the practical classes after lunch. The most of students make her own dinner but if you prefer you can go the canteens. The days to go out in Coimbra are Tuesday and Thursday.

How much does it cost to live in Coimbra?

To live in Coimbra cost about 300-400 euros per month.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Coimbra? Is there any advice you can give?

It isn't difficult to find accommodation in Coimbra; there are a lot of cheap rooms all around the University. Although you have to see the room before you decide to rent it, there are a lot of fake pictures publiciting rooms on the Internet.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

If you are planning to eat in the University you have taken a good decision, the Portuguese food are famous for some reason. The meal isn't expensive, for less then 3 euros; you can eat soup, main dish and dessert. My favourite dish is "Bitoque" one of the most famous traditional portuguese dishes, you have to experiment.

What places would you recommend visiting in Coimbra?

If you are planning to visit Coimbra I recommend you to go first of all to the University of Coimbra. The Law faculty of the University of Coimbra have an extraordinary architeture, one delightful library called "Biblioteca Joanina" and one of the famous rooms of the University, "Sala dos Capelos". After that you can go to the "penedo da saudade" and to the botanic garden.

Is it good to eat out in Coimbra? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is very good to eat out in Coimbra because you don't need to pay to much money to have a good meal. My favourite spots are "100 montaditos" and "Francesinhas e companhia".

Is the nightlife good in Coimbra? Where is good to go?

I think that the nightlife in Coimbra is more live than the day life. You have a lot of clubs and students parties. There are places to any kind of tastes. If you are a party animal you have to go to the clubs in the "alta" of Coimbra if you on the other hand likes to go out but to a places wich you might have a good talk to your friends you can go to the cafes in the "Praça da Republica" or to students parties.

What advice would you give future students heading to Coimbra?

I am no doubt that you will love to live in Coimbra.
