The Uniqueness

Published by flag-in Manoj Pradeep — 6 years ago

Hello everyone, how are you? Today I am going to share with you one of the most renowned and unique temple "the parthasarathy temple". I had the privelige of living my entire childhood in Triplicane which even now for me is unforgettable. I still remember everything, from the temple to the shops and restaurants and even the bazars of Pycroffts Road. Everything there goes from the most classic to the most local which has its own uniqueness. The area is mostly populated by brahmins and it's busy right from the early morning up to midnight.

Le caractère unique

I have spent nearly 14 years of my childhood there in two different streets and, believe me or not, the area still looks the same as how it was during my childhood. The house where I lived initially was for rental and there, we were two families in two separate portions. It was the coolest place I have ever been. I used to play in the muttram (an open place with iron rods placed with gaps as a roof) and it was awesome during rainy days because the whole house was cold and the water of the rain made a pool in the muttram.

I had a lot of friends and there were so many shops around my house like a press, a laundry or a mechanic shop. There were a lot of people working there and they used to play with us (kids) during their lunch time. Sometimes when we were bored they let us do small works and they gave us chocolates at the end of the day. We found this so interesting. Birthdays celebrated there were so amazing that even today I long for them. It was my mom who always surprised me with a new dress and the first congratulations. My dad and my sister followed her and some years my sister was the first one to congratulate me. After taking a fantastic head shower with all new clothes and jewels my dad used to take me in his bike very early in the morning to Sri Ragavendra temple (I will tell you guys about the temple in another post) and to Sri Parthasarathy temple.

My grandmother and my grandfather lived in Triplicane too, so after the temple visit we rushed to their house (rush because my school auto came at 6:30 am) to get my grandparents blessing. The early morning drive in Marina Beach Road was so amazing, it was what I loved the most. As the other indian children I used to roam a lot with my bike. In those days playing was in the top priority rather than sleeping and even eating.

Then, we moved on a new house in a big street of Triplicane. Shifting to that house from the old one gave me a fifty fifty feeling of happiness and sadness. Happiness for the fact of moving to a house solely owned by my dad and sadness for leaving all my friends there, even though my new house was just in the next street. But later I realized that in my new house absolutely anything changed, I had a new set of friends and my old friends often visited me at my place and I visited them. Our new home was spacious except for the fact that it was an apartment in a very busy street and mothers were all scared to let their children play outside on the road because there were vehicles moving all the time and it was very dangerous. But compensating it my new home had a very big terrace with a very big overhead water tank below which there was a space like a small kids room with a lot of space where we used to play with the tank water hose pipe.

Question to Manoj

Published by flag- Anand Navdeep — 6 years ago

Dear Manoj,

Thanks for this excellant article. I was wishing to read about the temple from someone who visits there often and by lord's grace it happened through you. I hope to visit the temple soon. I would like to buy a small brass/metal/panchaloha statue of the unique Sri VenkataKrishnan Swami, are there any shops around the temple to buy? Could you kindly direct me to any shop in Chennai where they sell a replica of the main lord in metal.

Best Regards,

Anand
