What is it like to live in Chania? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

I would defenately recommend Chania because it combines nature and city comforts, you have really close beaches, you have transportation for mountains and the samaria gorge and many other places to visit. It has a decent nightlife, a lot of students-young people and many places for entertainment.

What is the student lifestyle like in Chania?

Being a student in Chania is great because you have the students discount in many places and there a lot of other students and young local people and also placed to go out and have fun.

How much does it cost to live in Chania?

It's not the cheapest place to be but if you know where to go out and eat its cheap. Only shopping in Chania is generally a little expensive.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Chania? Is there any advice you can give?

Its not so hard to find accomodation but if you want to live at the city centre then it is going to be a bit expensive.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food in Chania is really good and almost everywhere, from fastfoods to restaurants. A famous food you can call fastfood in Greece is Gyros-Souvlaki and its has great quality and quantity in Chania also you can find many traditional restaurant with great quality also. The prices are generally good except the old port region where the restaurants are a bit expensive.

What places would you recommend visiting in Chania?

In Chania you will surelly visit the old port region because its near the city centre with amazing view and places to have fun or see, during day and night. Outside of the city (its 15 minutes by bus from the city centre) you have to visit the Cafe Koukouvaya, with the astonishing view of all the city and awesome things to eat and drink.

Is it good to eat out in Chania? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, either you go to fast foods or restaurants you dont have to worry about the quality of the food, the cretans are famous about the quallity of the food. Just check the prices in some restaurant because some are expensive

Is the nightlife good in Chania? Where is good to go?

Yes the nightlife in Chania is good during the winter and really good during the summer. Its has many place to chill, bars and nigh cafes but a few clubs in the city center. During the summer you can take the bus and go to a nearby region Agia Marina with many clubs.

What advice would you give future students heading to Chania?

First of all dont be afraid to ask informations from the locals as they are really friendly and helpfull, also dont just stay in the city centre but plan trips outside of the city because it has worlwide awarded beaches, traditional places and nature sites to go. Oh and do a plan on your expenditures and a search where to go and the prices. It will be great.
