What is it like to live in Calcutta? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Living in Calcutta is a new experience all together, even after being a metropolitan city, it is laid back and relaxed. There are people from various parts of India and the world who live in the city and thus the city is a brewing pot of different culture. The people are friendly and approachable, one might face language problem, but people will always be eager to help. The city is a fusion of old British architecture and modern high rise. And the city is Home to some prominent historical figures, so if you are a lover Of history, art and culture then you would definitely enjoy your stay.

What is the student lifestyle like in Calcutta?

Calcutta is one of the most affordable cities in India. So if someone is living on a budget it is the best place to live. Students have number of recreational options such as movies, gaming, club , etc, which is also very affordable.

How much does it cost to live in Calcutta?

I would say to live luxuriously one Would spend 10000 India Rupees.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Calcutta? Is there any advice you can give?

Not really, but depends on location. Central Calcutta can be Little difficult, as that is the heart of the city. Students often look for cheap accommodation, but one must remember safety over price.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is very tasty and cheap, but for a person with delicate stomach I would suggest keep away from street food. Personally I enjoy Bengali cuisine.

What places would you recommend visiting in Calcutta?

Princep ghat, Victoria memmorial. And for weekend get away one can also consider going to north of west bengal, such as Darjeeling.

Is it good to eat out in Calcutta? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yah,there are many places depending on your taste and budget.
I would personally recommend, The Wall, Peter Cat, someplace else, one step up, china town, oh Calcutta, and u can download the app zomato for easy location details and rating.

Is the nightlife good in Calcutta? Where is good to go?

Night life is pretty decent, it isnt the most happening city, but there are places you would like to hang out and party. Some are the Park, Nocturn, Plush. Some of the happening locations are Park street, Cama. Street, Elgin road.

What advice would you give future students headed to Calcutta?

The city will welcome you with a smile and will make you feel at home. Try out some local cuisine and make some local friends, then it is much easier to enjoy the city
