Best burger places in Budapest
The best burger places in Budapest
I would have to say that hamburgers are my favorite food. No they aren’t my favorite fast food but my favorite food. There’s a difference. I literally crave a hamburger once a week and if the craving is not satisfied I do turn into this cranky shell of a human being. That being said I try out a lot of different burger places in Budapest and everywhere else I go. This is quite ironic since I'm not a big fan of meat apart from burgers. I hate steaks, I hate meat soups and I definitely hate the meat in Persian stews. So yea it’s just a pure affection for a hamburger. Also to clarify I'm not talking about actual ham since I don’t eat pork but I'm talking about beef burgers; Now that I love.
Speaking of burgers in Budapest I feel inclined to just write about one place and ignore the rest but it just doesn’t feel fair to the game to be honest. If you have read my blog before you would know which place I'm talking about, I wrote an entire article on the best burger I had in Budapest and it was pretty popular within you guys so I decided to follow up.
Below I'm going to write a list of burger places that I think are worth trying in Budapest but this time I'm not going to save the best for the last. No, I will mention the best at first since it only belongs to number 1.
1) W35 Burger
The place will shock you a bit, it's super small but cozy and it's not somewhere fancy that you would expect from the "best Budapest burgers"; but that's what my friend told me and well I believed him. We went inside and the person working there was more than friendly, he came to our table handed us the menu and asked what we wanted to drink, we got raspberry sodas, they only had beer and coke; the cute thing was that the menu was so decluttered that it wouldn't take more than two mins for you to choose what you want to eat; they had only one type of burger with different toppings, the toppings were cheese, bacon and cheese and vegan burger if i'm not mistaken. I will post the one page menu here so you can see for yourselves.
They make all of their burgers medium rare and I really don't like my burgers medium rare so I asked mine to be well done and he said that it'll cost extra (a little odd but I didn't mind); the burgers were ready after about 15 mins and they came with a little bit of salad and some fries, oh man it looked so good that I barely resisted to wait and take a picture.
The first bite and oh man, it was so tender and juicy it could melt in your mouth, you all know I'm not the biggest meat lover but I could eat this any day man, ugh it was so good that right now even though I am full my mouth is watering. It had this special sauce on top of it which made the whole burger special and that's what I loved the most, it was something between ranch and burger sauce, you gotta try it to know it. The portion wasn't too large but it is pretty filling and most importantly fulfilling, man oh man how I wanna go and have another one right now.
Basically I would give this place a 9 out of 10, the prices are slightly more expensive than normal burgers, they range from 9 to 11 euros but then again it's completely worth it so why not? The price in forints was about 3200 forints, for a well done burger with a raspberry soda.
2) ZING Burger
Zing burger is definitely not the best burger I've had in Budapest but if we want to compare all the burger joints by that standard then there might not be too many left for us to try.
Zing is your typical go to burger. It’s the type of place that you can rely on getting a decent and affordable food. The food in Zing is high quality and the staff are very nice. Zing burger in fact started from a food truck back in 2013 and due to the their enormous success they have been able to turn it into an entire franchise.
There are various branches of Zing all around in Budapest but I have only been to two branches. I’ll write the locations for each so you guys would be able to find the nearest one to you. There are 8 Zing burgers across the city.
You can get their exact address by typing these locations in Google but that’s self-explanatory.
I go to Zing about once a month, all of their burgers are good. They are definitely considered above average. They have this option of adding 100% beef patty to your burger as opposed to another option that they provide and I always choose the 100% beef one. This costs like one Euro extra.
The burgers are medium sized but definitely bigger than W35. They are very filling especially when you get them with some fries on the side. I don’t usually buy drinks there, I feel like they’re a little over-priced.
The beef patty is quite juicy and well done, that’s how I like it as well. As for the other ingredients they all are seemingly fresh. The good thing about Zing is that it’s open until 12 am whereas majority of restaurants close by 10 or 11. So Zing to the rescue again. The burgers cost around 1300 to 2000 Forints which is very fair.
You can find out more about them and take a peak at their menu on their website.
3) Lucky 7 Burgers and more
I went here because a friend suggested to me and well because my cravings were hitting again and I didn’t have enough money to go to W35. I mean come on W35 costs at least 3000 Forints and I can only afford to go there towards the beginning of the month.
Anyways lucky 7 burgers is medium ranged burger place located well inside the inner city. I have only been here once and I was very satisfied. But I don’t think the burgers are cheap at all, in fact they’re quite pricey. The quality makes up for the price but one thing that struck me was that they charged 1000 Forints extra for the Menu option which is in my opinion slightly outrageous. I mean 1000 Forints is quite a bit and so I didn’t go for the Menu option and ordered my burger a la carte.
The portions of the burgers are larger than W35 or else the price doesn’t differ much. I ordered the lucky 7 burger which was a double (dupla) burger. It was ready quite fast and I devoured it like I always do.
I paid 3000 Forints for the burger but it was really filling even without the French fries and the drink. The ingredients were fresh and the beef patty was really really tender.
So I would definitely recommend this place, even though it’s a little over the budget.
4) Buddies Burger
This is going to be last burger place on my list and I promise you it’s a really good one. First and foremost the buddies burger started out from a small stall near Kalvin Ter and from there they grew and opened a more spacious store near Blaha Lujza Ter.
I’ve only been to the Blaha one so I don’t know much about the Kalvin one. I just went to check out their website and honestly their website needs to be much more developed. They don’t have the menu on it and their website is really basic. So yea the website isn’t much of a use.
Anyways the prices are medium ranged for this restaurant as well. The staffs are really warm and friendly and the burgers are quite good. I would say this place, more or less has the same quality as Zing burger and it’s another go to place.
5) Epic Burger
This was the first burger place that I went to in Budapest. I remember it was less than two weeks that I had moved here and I didn’t know that many people. A classmate of mine suggested that we go here and not knowing more options I complied. It turned out to be a good decision.
The burger was really juicy and well cooked. I absolutely enjoyed it then and so did my friends. Fast forward to less than a year later and I found myself in that neighborhood completely famished. That’s when the familiar sight of epic burger comforted my growling stomach. I went in and didn’t even wait for my friends to reach and ordered a burger. I went with the most classic option of them all the cheeseburger. It was relatively crowded there.
I hope that you share my love for burgers and enjoy this article.
Cheers
