Intro

As summer is soon to be finish so are the internships for our Erasmus students here in Elazig, as well as mine. One month from now i will be free from Erasmus forever and i will start my path into the real world. But until that happens i am still here doing the most at the Erasmus office or not really. This week is a bit overwhelming because is still fresh after the explosion in Elazig and the rest of the Erasmus boys got scared so they cancel their next mobility for studies, this means they will be gone in the next 2 weeks. And so am i!

Don't get me wrong, Elazig is a small cool place but is not safe anymore so i guess this is the end of Erasmus mobility's in this city or this area for a fact. Both Marius and Gabriel, 2 boys from Romania came here for internship during this summer, 3 months time and at the end of this they were supposed to start their semester studying here in Firat University, for Erasmus program as well. But after the terror attack last week now they cancel their staying so everybody is going home unfortunately and all who were suppose to come for the next semester canceled as well.

But this week particularly was the last week for the other student, Olzhas from Kazakhstan, he arrived here 2 months ago for his internship as well in the department of Electrical Electronics Engineering. This two months passed so fast and i feel it was too short of the time that i still couldn't know him very good. I guess this is what happens in Erasmus, you meet a bunch of people and then you have to say goodbye. As they say all good things come to an end! During this week and especially on Thursday on our traditional breakfast we got a chance to celebrate him and wish him farewell. I kind of think our weekly breakfasts are starting to get pretty boring, same food as always, same talks and same company, don't get me wrong but i am so ready to get my a** out of here. Seven months is too much for an internship in a small city like this. I prefer big cities with many activities and things to do and see. As summer is over so is my internship and i cannot be more grateful, i still don't know what future will bring for me because i realized that if i make plans there is a possibility of failing so i just go with the flow this time around.

Internship is almost over

Farewell week for Olzhas and farewell also for us soon enough. Maybe after us somebody will come here someday, take our places, sleep in our beds, walk the steps we walked but i am not sure if they will make the same impression as we did. Last semester it was a bit of a student mix, bunch of them were Romanians and one guy from Poland and of course all the Romanians were all ganged up which i kind off hate. But this semester around was awesome, less Romanians and more foreigners so i guess we had a great gang where all got along well or not. As for the students i will always remember Gaby and Marius fighting with Olzhas about the wind in the house or the living room, yes you heard good they were fighting about the wind, how funny is that?!

I remember first day they came, it was 16 June and first they came the Romanians, even they were not from Transylvania i still loved them and we had great time together, after them 2 weeks in came Olzhas on 1st of July and around mid July came Petru from Moldova. They were all living in the same apartment sharing 2 bedrooms and a living room. They were ganged up into 2 teams, the Romanians and Petru and Olzhas. Marius he was pretty sensitive considering he had a surgery going on so he was complaining all the time, how there is so much wind in the house, this and that. As one of my duties in Erasmus office is to care about them as well as hearing there complains on a regular basis. There were weeks when i went crazy with all this complains but now that they are just 2 left i want to remember just the good things. For example how Marius was telling me once he was out for dinner in a traditional Turkish place and every time he was asking for the check they waiter was bringing him a tea ( cay in Turkish ) i always laugh when i remember this lol. Or how one time he wanted to eat shaworma and he ordered but he got something else instead.

No regrets

All in all summer passed so fast, i still remember it was 15th February when i came in Turkey and now is almost over and i have to return back to Romania. As i am 100% sure i am returning to Turkey this time will be harder because i will not have Erasmus backing me up. But somehow i have this anxiety about what life will be after Erasmus, so many questions running throw my mind, am i going to be okay, am i going to find a good job? Many things... I always tell to each student i meet that if they have the chance to go with Erasmus take that opportunity and make the most out of it, because i knew that i made the most of mine. Is not easy to be 6th time Erasmus, maybe it was the laziness in me trying to delay searching for a job, maybe i wanted the experience but one thing i knew that i made memories for a lifetime.

This week's review

This particularly week in the office it was pretty boring to say at least, Seyda who is the Dutch women working in the Erasmus office is gone to holiday so i am stuck in the office alone basically with not so much things to do. I realized how terrible is to sit in a chair for 8 hours straight, i always taught that office job is the best job ever but i might chanced my mind after this months. It can be pretty boring sometimes! As i said in a previous article, there are days when i am extremely busy dealing with paperwork or students but there are weeks when i have nothing to do just sit and wait the time to pass which is not fun, trust me!

I am excited for the next week because there is a professor is coming from my city here for about 10 days. So when we have guests is usually an interesting week with dinner nights and visits here and there and time is passing so fast and i am not stuck in the office all day. Plus 30 August is a national holiday here so we got to have the day off, super excited about that! Don't worry i will write all about it for sure.

So farewell to all of Firat University's students and hope to see you sometime in the future in Romania or wherever the future will take us!
