Today my flatmates and I together with some other friends went to Manufaktura for ice skating.

Just to mention, I have previously lived in very hot cities where there is no snow even during the winter. So, I hope you can understand how disappointed I was today. But I thank that some of my friends have displayed the same level of skills. Isn’t it embarrassing when you see 5-6 years old children skating around with confidence and freedom and you are hardly walking even with the support of railings? Even having that support I fell twice, but once again I want to thank my friends who fell too because it made me feel better. There was an old man who even suggested us to use those penguins for support which were meant to be for kids. We all laughed so hard at it. My Italian flatmate, Maria, was the expert among us and tried to guide and help us but we proved to be very awful learners.

Still I would recommend everyone in Lodz, whether you have done it before or not, go and give it a try. No matter if you fall, it’s still fun. Concerning the prices, the entry fee along with the pair of skate shoes was 10 PLN per hour. Quite fair I guess.

But I just want to add that Manufaktura was more than beautiful today with the entire Christmas atmosphere.

There were the classic small huts with traditional food not only from Poland, but from other countries such as Italy and Turkey, etc. I tried a slice of pizza at the Italian hut and yes, those cheese puffs with jam- a traditional warm sweet from Zakopane, Poland was the perfect treat in the cold breeze. My Italian friend tried the hot wine, which according to her, was quite stronger than the Italian ones. Probably the Polish people have a greater stamina and tolerance against alcohol.
