Blue Man Group
I have been to many shows and concerts during my exchange year, some of them are the following:
- Mannheim Steamroller (Christmas concert);
- A Christmas Carol (Play in Denver);
- Grinch (Play in Denver);
- Wicked (Play in Denver);
- Garth Brooks concert at the Pepsi Center;
- Greeley Stampede.
I can not remember if there are more on the lists, but there is definitely a special one: Blue Man Group Show. They were in Greeley, at the Union Colony Civic Center and they were absolutely amazing.
Before going to the show I was familiar with their name but I could not remember any of their melodies so I searched for some videos on YouTube and listened to them. Nothing to what they are live. It was amazing, we were standing most of the time because their shows are very dynamic and they interact with the audience. They called a few people on stage, they threw some balls that people were supposed to push, they shot some confetti and stuff like that. It was truly fun, I did not expect that at all! Prior to the beginning of the show, there was a quote on the big screen that I would like to share with all of you:
"If you would like to establish a connection with people from another culture, it's always good to offer a few gifts as a gesture of friendship. But the best way to forge a lasting bond is to create something together. Whether it's a meal, an art project, or just a spontaneous dance party, when you create with other, you build a connection that lasts a lifetime".
I loved this because I was an exchange student. I was the foreign student who was trying to establish a connection with locals and I just felt like this was just spot on.
Once the show was over I believe that they stopped to take pictures with people and to talk to their fans, but I did not stay long because I did not want to keep my American family and their friends waiting, so eventually, we went home and then went out again for dinner. We had Chinese food! The interesting thing about this place is that you can also order s'mores. It is a Chinese place that has s'mores!? They bring a tiny little "grill" directly to your table so that you can roast your marshmallow. Isn't it weird, but extremely clever? Anyway, we love this place, we have been going back a lot of times.
