About London: North London

Lots of people will tell you that London is a very busy city and can be very expensive (especially for international students who are used to using euros! ) but do not let this put you off!

London is one of the best cities in England (and perhaps the whole world! ) for going out and having a good time and experiencing the culture.

The first thing you will need to know is how the city works. London is divided into 5 sections: North London, South London, East London, West London and Central London. Each place is different.

North London is commonly known as the most ‘trendy’ of all parts. There are a lot of alternative art, music, clothes shops etc and it is of course where Camden is. If you are interested in alternative culture and nights out and like a lot of different types of music, this would be the best place for you to go.

If you are going to be living in North London you should make the most of all the art galleries and Camden market, you can buy just about anything there! But remember to look for a student discount before you pay to do anything because in London students can save a lot of money! You can do this by using your student ID card from your English university or by getting a 'NUS card' or 'International student card': for more infos about that click here. It will cost you about £10-£12 but you can save lots of money if you have one!

You might feel a bit lost when you first arrive in London, especially if you come from a very small city but there are lots of places to ask, maps to look at and signs to see that will help you get around.

You can also find an interactive map (which can give you directions) here: http://www.mylondonmap.com/ or use google maps!
