It only gets better!
The travelling day
The human brain is so interesting when it comes to big life changes . My emotions were on a long roller-coaster ride. I was so excited to leave but I was very scared that I was leaving my family and friends for 6 months. My friend was coming with me for the semester abroad but her flight was one week after mine.
My family came with me to the airport, and this is when I had to remind myself that I am a grownup and everything will be okay.I was a little bit overwhelmed in the beginning as It was the first time for me to do the check in process in the airport alone. To my surprise, I figured out everything quickly and the whole process was very quick and smooth. The fact I was able to do everything very quickly got me excited to start my new adventure.
I arrived in Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW), I took my luggage and ordered a cab very quickly. I was so impressed by how everything was very quick, or so I thought.
Nice start
The taxi dropped me in front of the apartment in which my studio was at. I rented the studio from a website called Pepe housing. It was a nice cozy studio in Batalionu AK parasol (I will make another blog to desribe the area). I told the owner that I will arrive at 4:00 pm but I arrived early at 3:30 pm. This was not a problem the real problem was the weather (preventing myself from writing it in caps lock but imagine me shouting). I was never exposed to such temperature (-11 degrees Celsius). The coldest temperature I have experienced in Egypt was like 5 degrees Celsius. These 30 minutes were not very long but were long enough for me to appreciate and feel grateful for weather in my country.

This is me waiting and revaluating my traveling decision.
What did I do
The rest of the story is irrelevant but what is important to know is that at this moment you . After a long emotional day of travelling the most thing I was looking for is the bed. The owner showed me the studio and the area. I called my parents for two minutes to assure them I was alive then bye, bye passant. I slept a lot.
Lessons learned
- It is okay if you feel overwhelmed in the beginning.
- It is okay if you feel like you have made the wrong decision.
- It is okay if you feel homesick in the first few weeks.
- Everything will be okay, actually amazing.
Believe it or not ,but one week later I travelled with a group of people I did not know. I went for an amazing skiing trip in Zakopane Poland (I did not know how to ski). if you want to know what happened stay tuned for the next blog (It only gets better and better).
