Halloween With Madridance
Darkness, evil creatures and Latin music.
In the picture below you can see a few of us dancing in the underworld while the rest was busy with torturing the mortals.
Unfortunately, it was the last night for Charly the Chicken.
The witches (brujas) needed his feathers for preparing the potions, and the vampires (vampiros) were just thirsty. And guess what. The zombies (zombis) did something special. Instead of eating Charly’s meat like that, they fried him. Therefore the Salsa move “Kentucky” was invented in memory of our beloved Charly.
That night we danced Kizomba, Bachata and Salsa from 8 p.m. It was hilarious how everyone adapted to his/her new identity in the way they talked, walked and danced. Some people looked so differently that even I didn’t recognize them although I use to see them every week in class. So what did I do? I greeted every single person as if I knew them for a long time. Easy peasy!
After the regular dance classes, the three best costumed dancers were awarded.
The Zombie
The Terrorist
and ... (I can't even find a name because I am so scared of his costume.) Rotten from the outside but we all know he is a big-hearted person from the inside, by daylight.
Now a picture of all of us.
Then we all went upstairs where some of us had prepared tapas. Perfect after a Latin workout. There we talked, ate, drank and continued dancing until it was time for Tropical House (www.tropicalhouse.es), which is close to the metro station Plaza de España. (Plaza de los Mostenses 11)
If you want to go there one night, I recommend you to go on Fridays. They mostly play Salsa, Bachata, Merenque with some dance work shops in between and Reggaeton in the end. The entrance fee costs 10 € with two drinks of your choice, available between Midnight and 01:30 a.m. Believe me. You will need the drinks after dancing because “hace mucho calooor!” (It is very hot!) You can also check out the other days on the website. Tropical House has a big dance floor with many seats along the walls, two bars and a separate area for dancing Kizomba or Zouk. Nice ambience!
At 6 a.m. the lights went on and it was time for Churros and hot chocolate, the Spanish way – a mix between liquid and pudding. “Me encanta” (I love it!) But if you are tired before and want to go home, Friday is a good day because the night busses are active. (Check out the post “Butterflies In My Tummy” to find the links for the busses.)
Madrid has so many dance clubs. Another one that I know is Azúcar (www.azucarsalsadisco.com) in Atocha close to Teatro Kapital, the seven-floor discotheque. Free entrance for the ladies and 10 € + drink for the gentlemen.
Let's dance! I'll keep you posted!
Besitos muchachos!
P.S.: I was an old witch. Muhahaaa!
