Want to feel like a disney princess?

Only 45 minutes outside Prague is the majestic Karlsteign Castle. So simply grab a train at Hlvani Nadrazi and take a day trip to the wonderful Karlsteign castle.

Karlsteign castle is perched on a high hill overlooking the pretty village nestled in the Czech countryside. The walk up to castle is not for the faint hearted, so ensure comfortable walking shoes. However the steep hill is well worth it as you can take in the breathtaking views afterwards. The walk itself may take up to twenty or thirty minutes. It is surrounded by lush forests and vineyards. Many tourist souvenir shops, bars and restaurants will be along the route.

Karlsteign castle founded in 1348, it was built by Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV . It was used at the time as a safekeeping of the royal treasures, especially holy relics and the coronation jewels of the Roman Empire.

Here are what some other people thought of Karlsteign Castle...

The climb to the castle is bit hard on a hot day. The woods around are amazing and castle itself is well taken care of. We had a English guide, girl spoke good English. Learned some interesting things. If you want to see something interesting nearby Prague visit this castle (more than 3 hours with the climb:-)

Weary of the tourist crush in Prague, we took a day-trip to "Karlstejn castle", (approx. 35 km outside Prague). This area is very scenic -- rolling hills and fields, and surrounding the castle is a beautiful nature preserve. Even Prague locals recommended it to us

Karstejn is a nice break from the hectic big city. This is where the Czech crown jewels used to be kept. It is easily reached by local rail. We had our hotel clerk write down where we wanted to go on a piece of paper and that is what we used to get our tickets at the train station

We stopped here on our way from Germany into Prague. It is a little off the main road, but well worth a stop. You must take a tour, and our guide spoke very good English and was an excellent source of information. I knew nothing of Czech history, and learned a lot!
